Okeehelee is a little bit underrated maybe because it's away from the center of the city, in the SW West Palm Beach area. It is very close to me though, so that's good...!

Seriously, the place is very beautiful, you can do a lot of activities, from fitness trail (one mile) to Nature Center guided walks/tours to play baseball, soccer, canoing or kayaking in the lake...you name it.

Especially December to March, when the temperature becomes reasonable (under 80 degrees, I mean) I enjoy this park very much.

Well kept, you can go there to play or just to cool off and relax under a tree.

This park is close to our house so we take advantage of going there on oa regular basis. There are sports venues, water skiing, a mile heart trail, a nature center and a walkway through the forest. It is a great place to visit and I highly recommend it to anyone.

We use this park all the time for scouting events as well as family outings. Great facilities and always clean. 27 holes of golf aren't bad either.

Clean dog areas, with water for the dogs and sun shelter for the owners and paved walkways. The dogs love it and run the hell out of each other. You meet some nice people there too.

But be warned, if you are a novice bike rider, there are some hills (Florida mountains) and the path can go for quite some time. Bring water and pay attention. The park is very nice. Mostly locals playing softball, having birthday parties or jogging. Not too many fishing. The are bass in the lake and they hit plastic worms. Catch and release. You need a license. There are some posted "no fishing' areas near the water ski lakes.
