This is an outstanding restaurant with attentive service and a varied menu. The food is outstanding, although the atmosphere intentionally is somewhat rustic.

Monday night, 12/10/12, three of us went to dinner at the Steak House. First and foremost, their signature salad bar (and major reason why anyone goes there) is gone. They said they had a water leak but I think it will never be back. But ok, can deal with that if indeed they are not lying and it will be back. That was disappointment #1. One person in our party had a birthday that night. We gave our server Carol the ID and it was approved by the manager and he ordered the alotted NY Strip. Disappointment #2. My Prime Rib was very fatty and almost 40% of it was left due to the fat / grizzly content. The birthday steak was tough but the third person in the party was happy with his NY Strip. The garlic mashed potatoes are loaded with garlic powder, not freash garlic and the tiny ice cream size scoop is disproportionate to the baked potato or other starch side others are served. Disappointment #3. I was charged for the birthday steak!!!! I realized after leaving that the price seemed high and discovered we were charged. Did not go back to have it removed. It was a birthday celebration and did not want to ruin the mood. I will not be going back there. Heard at least 6 other people complain about the salad bar. Another landmark reaturant going under.

Made a mistake of listening to the concierge advice instead of checking TripAdvisor....
The prices are very high and the quality is average. My tuna steak was dry, despite me asking for a medium-rare. For these kind of prices they should really know their stuff. Would not recommend it.

this was my first visit to the famous steakhouse. i had great expectations. the food was terribly overpriced for what we received, the wine was unbearable. the steak was bland and over cooked. i couldn't complain because my server never returned to check on us. very disappointing.

We had the prime rib (14oz for $33) and the filet (8oz for $34): good but not extraordinary, and way overpriced; and the $25 8oz. NY trip was only half an inch thick. A good steakhouse like Berns of Tampa knows to explain to customers that they use thick cuts that need to be split between two people. Sides, bread, salad, espresso, house wine, and desert choices were average at best. The garlic mashed potatoes were from dehydrated potatoes; did not have the flavor and consistency that you get from fresh potatoes. So, 3 stars for overall quality, could go 4 stars for the prime rib and the filet. Overall 2 stars because of price and physical plant. Service was OK.
