We were always hesitant to go in here because it reminded us of a hamburger fast food place - very plain, checkerboard style flooring - really 1950's stuff. But the hostess said to us "oh, you need to go upstairs..." - thank goodness we did! what a difference! The upstairs is a cozy Newportish style interior - lots of fish pictures of wall, boat ropes on the walls, all fish themes on every turn. Looks like a classier Flanigan's style decor (blue nautical themes).
There was a band playing great music and there are only enough tables to fit 6 or 7 large parties, but you can sit at the bar and eat too!
The food is simple and tasty. We had the fish tacos which were amazing, and I had the " garlic shrimp tin" dinner: Huge portions of shrimp (or mahi, or dolphin, mussels, etc - whatever you choose), served in a small bucket with melted butter; it came with garlic bread and large waffle fries.
Service was attentive, but we had to bring the bill to the counter after waiting too long to pay it.
The food was very fresh and reasonably for the size portions received. Good bar choices too - fresh drafts.
My suggestion for the place? Bring the upstairs atmosphere to the downstairs and you'll get a LOT more clients!
