Owner description: Architecturally unique for southern Florida, this popular shopping center resembles a European town and includes more than 50 well-known retail stores, plus restaurants and fast-food eateries.

CityPlace has been struggling since it opened 10 years ago. The restaurants are mediocre the shops are empty of buyers and rumors are flying Barnes and Noble is closing. The movie theatre is good. Remember to take your parking ticket and have it validated inside the theatre. Although they claim there is security be careful it is not safe in the garages and not recommended to be there late at night.

City Place is lots of fun to walk around, window shop, and check out the expensive cars and clothing passing by on the street and sidewalk. This is not a place for anyone on a budget to shop, and even parking isn't free, unless you spend more than $100 in certain shops or validate your parking garage ticket at the cinema. It does, however, have lots of fun bars and restaurants, and a lovely outdoor plaza, giving it a faintly European feel.

I had the priviledge of discovering this fantastic place without actually looking for it! We turned left instead of turning right and there it was! A really great find - and free 1st hour parking in the public parking lot! We couldn't resist having supper there as we appreciated all the sights and sounds ! No cars, no rush, just a great place to unwind and relax! And the choice of good restaurants is endless. You should go!

City Place is a sprawling, commercial and residential development that resembles an artistic interpretation of a picturesque, Italian-Renaissance town. As one might expect, it features restaurants, boutiques, clubs, entertainment, apartments, and more. I've been to City Place countless times since it opened in 2000, but in case you've never been, I've a few tips to offer. Depending on how much you plan to do, set-aside at least three hours. Visit on a Friday or Saturday evening; the lights are pretty, it's cooler, and there's more activity. Park in the garage at the southeast corner of the complex; it's safe, clean, cheap, and attached in a manner so as to avoid rain. However, this garage is not well marked. (From I-95, go eastbound on Okeechobee, cross Sapodilla, CROSS Rosemary, then make the next unnamed left turn and drive straight in.) Before doing anything, catch the trolley-bus “yellow route” outside of Macy's. This route gives an initial overview of City Place, Clematis St., and the waterfront. If you go to the Parisian for a movie, don't expect the theater's bar to be open; so grab a quick drink before entering. Also, validate your parking ticket before leaving the theater. Check out the “Puppies in Paradise” shop; these posh pooches live in baby cribs amid bedazzled pet clothes, toys, and accessories. Finally, this is fairly important, there are many beverage establishments at City Place. No one will turn an eye if you discretely carry libations outdoors on the upper tier, but please do not carry them from one establishment into another. On the other hand, if you're not a newbie but a long-time City Place fan, you will discover several newer additions including Mojito, Mellow Mushroom, and Brio. Mojito is a Latin-themed indoor / outdoor restaurant featuring nouveau Latin-American cuisine and cocktails; order an original mojito and a few “picueos.” The “Mellow Mushroom” is a unique pizza parlor with a psychedelic, “Dadaist” décor and an innovative menu to match. Brio is a higher-end, Italian chain restaurant. So, whether you're an experienced City Place enthusiast or a newcomer, there's always something going on.

Great shopping, food and people watching in a beautiful setting. Visit Anthropologie for some different clothes and accessories. I know its a chain, but every store is different and this one has some super FL items and very friendly staff. Save your receipt for free parking!
