On our last visit to West Palm Beach, my best friend joined my husband and I for a few days and I wanted to step out of our usual zone of never leaving Singer Island. I'd been curious about Cafe Centro so we made a reservation on a Saturday night - not so easy as this place is jumping and very popular. We were able to garner a table in the room where a piano performance starts at around 7pm on Saturday and I was glad we did. My best friend loves live music in a restaurant and this really fit the bill - a charming musician, talented, pleasant and with a great repertoire of show tunes and hit songs. This went really well with Italian food at a level of authentic that I rarely find in a restaurant in the US. The food was delicious and very fresh - just made mozzarella, just squeezed lemon juice over the calamari, fresh pasta and the angel hair pasta was truly angel hair thin, tomato sauce very freshly made and parmesan freshly ground. But an additional level was the homemade rolls and all of the other little touches that tell you this restaurant really knows how to cook and serve Italian food with care, attention and love. Portions were very generous and I must admit I ate a dangerous amount of food but just couldn't stop! I can't wait to return! I'm so glad that I finally tried Cafe Centro.
