“First trip to West Palm”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

It was our third day on vacation with our two kids and we woke to a rainy day. After searching the web, and looking at many reviews on trip advisor we decided to visit McCarthys sanctuary, and we all had a great time. Ashlyn was a great tour guide, a lot of fun and very knowledgeable. Our kids are young adults and they really enjoyed the unique experience. It was great to visit a place where the animals are clearly loved, well taken care of, and happy. Thank you for this wonderful experience, if we are ever back in West Palm we will visit again.

Definitely recommend! One of the highlights of our trip. Our guide Kara was friendly and clearly devoted to the animals. We started with a light rain but they provided umbrellas. Wear shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

“Most incredible animal encounter”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

The place is spotless and smelled good for a "zoo". Animals were loved and cared for like pets. Very knowledgable staff and allowed us to pet animals and hold some. Best thing to do for ALL ages! This was our second visit...first was in December 2012

“Up close with Tigers and Lions”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

McCarthys is an amazing place with a great cause. They rescue large cats, birds, turtles, lemurs and snakes when their owners can no longer care for them. I have never been so close to large cats. It's amazing. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and nice. This is a great place for a family outting with the kids

“Unexpected Delight!”
Reviewed May 25, 2013

I came upon this place doing a search of local attractions while down in the area with my 8 year old who is getting treated at the Paley Institute. We made the mistake of not making an appointment (required), but luckily two no shows allowed us to partiicpate. The tour is about 1 hr and 15 min.

The place is a little jewel. Forget the public "Zoo". Between Kara, the tour guide, the amazing animals (totally unexpected), your very intimate distance from the creatures (amazing birds, lions, tigers, liger,, snakes, lemur, and many others) as well as the ability to actually hold some creatures, makes it a very unique experience. I was happy to pay the fee and would be happy to support their efforts beyond that as they save many different animals.

The place has the most lush feel to it, like it is someone's backyard (which it is of the owners), where they take great pride in its presentation and with that where the animals are made part of the "naturalness". Enjoy!

Will definitely want to do round two some day.
