I decided to fill my kid's March Break with nature themed excursions this year. After reading the great reviews on trip advisor, I decided that McCarthy's Sanctuary would fit the bill. We were absolutely blown away by the up close and personal tour we took. The guide was incredibly knowledgable. The animals populating the sanctuary are happy and healthy, obviously well cared for, and extremely well loved. The kids (11 and 13 years old), had a fantastic experience. They will remember this excursion fondly for years to come(as will I).

“A great time at the Sanctuary”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

Today my husband and I visited the Wildlife Sanctuary and were very impressed. For a very reasonable fee, you get to see and learn about a multitude of amazing animals and at the same time, help Mark McCarthy care for and house abandoned or donated creatures both big and small. For an hour and a half, Brittany, our young and very capable guide took us around to see many wildcats, lemurs, tortoises and birds, She fed several wildcats with meat on long tweezers so we could see the cats better and later, allowed us to hold a kinkadoo ( like a small lemur) an African parrot and an albino python. My husband even held a tarantula! There was lots of time for pictures and questions and Britanny was able to answer them all.
The Sanctuary is immaculate and you can tell that the animals are exceptionally well-cared for. The guests to the attraction were all ages and everyone seemed to have a very enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend this attraction to anyone who is fascinated with animals. Much better than a zoo!

“Outstanding afternoon!”
Reviewed March 6, 2013 via mobile

Three generations of animal lovers visited on a recommendation and we were all thrilled that we did! This 90 min experience far exceeds the Palm Beach Zoo and Lion Country Safari. Our docent Kara was informative and pleasant, and obviously loved her job and each of the animals. The property was spotless and the animals well cared for. This is a must-see for animal lovers!

The owner of this sanctuary saw a need, and took action, and the animals and visitors are now the grateful beneficiaries of his vision. Personal introductions are given to each animal, explaining basic facts about the species in addition to the history of how the animal arrived at McCarthy's. It's an opportunity to come close to animals, from Bengal tigers to kinkajous to Burmese pythons and a black spotted leopard. Guests are invited to hold a tortoise, kinkajou, and even that albino python! The personal care given to each animal is amazing, based on the unique physical condition of each upon arrival. At first the entry fee of $25 seemed high, but only until one hears the costs of feeding the high quality diets provided. The positive interactions between animals and guide attest to the level of kindness and devotion provided by the care givers. It is so good to know that these beautiful animals are being given such loving care. We were also happy to meet the owner, Mark, as we left for the day, and to learn that 2 additional acres next door were recently purchased that will eventually provide larger habitats for big cats.

“Animals up close”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

We visited McCarthy's Wildlife Sanctuary on a cool cloudy day last week. We were part of a 20-person tour led by Kara. Kara provided us with tons of information about each animal including what brought them to the Sanctuary. The animals were in clean, spacious enclosures and appeared healthy and well-maintained. Many of the animals, including tigers and lions, interacted with Kara and allowed her to pet them during the tour.
It was amazing to see large cats and other animals up close. I would recommend a visit to McCarthy's Wildlife Sanctuary to anyone who enjoys animals.
