We stayed at the Saddlebrook Resort for a long weekend and ate lunch one time and breakfast three times at the Tropics Restaurant that is on the resort property. They offer ample indoor and outdoor seating. We ate outside each time, and the shaded patio offers a view of the 18th hole of the golf course, as well as a small pond and lush trees with many egrets and wood birds. There were not many people at the resort the first two days we were there, so a few times we were the only table on the patio which made for a peaceful dining experience. The servers were all very pleasant and the hostess remembered our beverage choices each day which offered a personal touch.
For breakfast they offer a continental breakfast buffet or a full breakfast buffet. The continental buffet offered juices, fresh fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, steel cut oats, cereal, house-made granola, turkey, salami, cheese, and an assortment of breads, bagels, and pastries made daily in their bakery. They also had house-made peanut butter and pecan butter which were absolutely delicious. The full breakfast buffet included everything from the continental buffet in addition to hot items of bacon, sausage, breakfast quesadillas, fruit crepes, and breakfast potatoes. They also had a chef that made eggs any way you requested, waffles, and pancakes - all made fresh to your order. All of the food was fresh and replenished regularly.
For lunch we had the seared ahi tuna with Asian noodle salad. The tuna was seared perfectly, and the cold noodle salad had great flavor. A nice choice for a warm Florida day. We also had the grouper sandwich and had it prepared grilled instead of fried as it was listed on the menu. It came on fresh toasted bread with a tangy caper remoulade. Very tasty.
