We went to Panther Ridge 2 weeks ago and it really is an exceptional place. We were given a private tour and introduced to each cat and given information on where they come from, when and what circumstances that particular cat came to Panther Ridge and the opportunity to ask questions no matter how big or small.

We were stunned at how much information we walked away with and can honestly say the experience would stay with us forever. Judy was very welcoming and is a mine of information - she is really dedicated to these animals and in turn they clearly love her.

This isn't a zoo and you won't find any cafes or rides here - you'll need to arrange a tour and I can promise you'll leave inspired.

If you have a love for wildlife or big cats then I would recommend arranging a visit to Panther Ridge. It is a wonderful place and the world needs more Judy's and places like Panther Ridge to educate and inspire people to save these wonderful creatures.

This is a wonderful facility for photographers trying to get pictures of big cats not normally encountered. Plus it's just a wonderful cause to support. You can tell how much Judy loves these cats.

See my pictures for examples of what you can get.

If you love big cats, or animal conservation, you'll love Panther Ridge Conservation Center. Panther Ridge is the home to many large cats that have been abused, neglected or unwanted. When you enter the center you are immediately greeted in the distance by Charlie, a cheetah. He seems to chirp at visitors as they arrive. Charlie has the largest habits spanning 3 acres. Once there you are met by the owner and operator, Judy Berens. You can immediately tell she loves what she does, and you can see by the animals reactions that they love her right back.

The tour consists of Judy taking you around the center and introducing you to all the cats by name. Each cat has a unique story, and Judy will tell you all about them. Cougars, ocelots, jaguars, a black leopard, and more await you. I was extremely impressed with how clean each enclosure was. Judy informed us that the enclosures are cleaned every day. Each habitat has a "lockout" area where the animal goes, so that employees and volunteers can clean the habitats in safety. (Much better than other places I've seen where they use a stick through the fence to try to clean the enclosures)

Chirps, and meows fill the air as Judy introduces you to such magnificent animals like Clouded Leopards. Before visiting Panther Ridge I never even knew what a Clouded Leopard was.

The center is kid and photographer friendly. If you are a photographer, keep in mind you'll need to shoot though chainlink enclosures at a bout 4 feet away. I got some fantastic shots of the cats there.

Panther Ridge is simply just amazing, and if you are in the area you MUST visit.
(Note: Tours are by appointment only. It's not open to the general public...which makes it more exciting)
