I love this place! The lodge itself is unbelievable cool, it's as if it's been stuck in time. The rooms are amble, clean and extremely comfortable. The staff is charming, helpful and seem to have a true love for the place they work. The food was servings were larger then expected and super tasty. So you have all of this and then BAM! you also get on of the largest natural springs the in the USA, which was surreally clear and since it was once believed to be the fountain of youth.. i totally drank from it ;) It's off the beaten track, but if you are stick of staying in the same ole thing, it's totally worth the extra drive!

If you’re looking for a busy Florida coastal area with lots of traffic and malls, or a quiet beach area with lots of lush homes, this is not the place. Wakulla Springs Lodge is located in the midst of a jungle forest with lots of moss-covered trees and a beautiful spring lake and beach. It has walking and biking trails, and a unique river boat cruise offering views of the alligators and many gorgeous bird species in the area. The Lodge itself is quietly elegant. High ceilings with painted beams, wonderful huge arched windows, marble floors and a large dining room serving breakfast and dinner. The rooms are clean and modestly furnished in old style southern. Although there is nothing contemporary about this place, it has a charm that is hard to beat. Definitely worth a stay if you’re in the area and, if you do plan on coming, you might want to do so before July because we read in the local newspaper that the State might no longer be able to fund it and they are looking to privatize it. Go now if you can.

Take the first boat ride in the a.m.
Walk the trail out from the lodge - approximately 6 miles roundtrip.
Go to the viewing tower to see birds and manatees..

The single best state park lodge I've ever stayed at. Rooms are a step back to the past and WARNING to Holiday Inn travelers, there is no internet, tv, fridge/microwave in room. Rooms (and bathrooms) are original to 1930's so not for everyone, but we loved it.
Staff couldn't have been nicer, location amazingly scenic, spring fed lake right in front of ldoge (and what a view in the mornings), and boat tour was fantastic.

I'm surprised how few reviews mention the restuarant at lodge, which far exceeded my expectations. I thought it would be typical state lodge buffet. Boy was I wrong. What I found was an excellent menu, a short but good wine list, white table cloths and smooth service. Every dish our experienced band of gourmands tried was excellent, and both the food and wine prices were a bargain.

We had so much fun its hard to single out one thing, but I really enjoyed sitting in the lobby with a fire in the huge fireplace, drinking a glass of good cabernet and watching Creature From the Black Lagoon (filmed there) with the other guests. We'll be back!

We drove up to Wakulla Springs to spend the night during our vacation to Alligator Point and really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in Room 33 and it felt like stepping back into the 1930s. As other reviewers have pointed out there are no TVs in the rooms. At night it is very quiet although our room had an adjoining door to the room beside us and due to the acoustics we could hear their entire conversation. This is not a bad thing, but if we were to stay here again we would opt for a room without an adjoining door. We booked the Getaway Special they were offering which included a premium room overlooking the springs (upgrade charge for this room), dinner for two including entrees, non-alcoholic beverages, and desserts, and 2 tickets for the boat tour. We felt it is well worth the price and dinner was delicious! We snorkeled in the springs as well and really enjoyed it in spite of the cold water. They also have a nice gift shop and quick foods restaurant in the lodge. We would definately go back.

We stayed at the Wakulla Springs Lodge overnight, while on a road trip through the Florida panhandle. We arrived late at night- around 11pm. Upon arrival, we checked in with a woman at the front desk. Service was o.k, nothing special. We upgraded to room 31. Well worth the extra $15! We stayed in a spacious, comfortable room with 2 queen beds,a full size pull out couch, and large windows with a view of the spring. Sense there was four of us, the extra space was appreciated. We all slept wonderfully.
The next morning, we ate at the hotel restaurant. It was very disappointing. First of all, they stop serving breakfast at ten. The food and service quality at the restaurant was the quality of a lousy diner.
After breakfast, we went to go explore the hotel and grounds. The lobby had marble floors and terrific paintings on the ceiling. The hotel has a old fashioned "art deco" elevator from the 1940s. The hotel itself is quite charming.
The grounds were well kept and pretty. The spring though, was amazing. It's almost like a freshwater lake, fed by underground springs. The water was cool and refreshing on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, it had just rained during our visit, so the water was quite murky and green tinted. But one of the best things about the spring is that there was a 2 story tall diving tower, so you can jump right into the spring. My kids loved jumping off it.
before we left, we took a riverboat tour down the river. The tour was amazing, and we got to see a variety of birds, plants, and alligators. Overall, Wakulla was wonderful, and i look forward to coming back.

Loved it!!! The springs are beautiful and historic. We checked in on a Friday night and found guests watching "Creature From the Black Lagoon" on the only tv in the lodge. Our room was spacious and according to some, haunted (#23?). Not a luxorious, modern place, but so relaxing and peaceful. This is a perfect place to get away from it all. We saw manatee's and lots of gators on the boat tour (go in the morning) and the water is VERY COLD. Food in the dining room was good and the snack bar has the longest marble bar in the world I think? Ed Ball was a smart man and I hope the lodge stays the way it is, can not wait to go back.
