Traditional Vero atmosphere! Growing up in Vero we spent many celebrations and family affairs dinning here. The service is always very attentive and we love to sit at the large round table. Each member of the family has their own favorite dishes. We never fail to dine at the Ocean Grill! We are never disappointed.

We had visited this restaurant twice last year, and enjoyed both the meal and the service.
However, this year, things had changed. When we arrived, we were told that there would be approximately 40 minutes wait for a table, so we went to the bar. Fine so far, the drinks were good, nibbles provided, and the staff were very pleasant. We were surprised to have to pay for the bar drinks before moving to the table, but no problem.
This was were things started to deteriorate. The attitude of staff appeared to be 'give me your order quick, I have better things to do'!
Under pressure, we ordered a beer, and a bottle of wine. Beer was fine, but the wine was very disappointing, considering the price. The Clam Chowder which we ordered as an appetiser, had very little taste, and was quickly removed, and replaced by the entree. The Coquilles St Jacques, at $24.95, was a big disappointment, a traditional Scallops with mash potato and cheese, would have been far more enjoyable. The Grouper, which was one of the fishes of the day, was well overlooked, and a very small portion.
I think it sums things up when we heard someone at the bar (maybe a member of management), say, 'we don't have to take reservations, people flock here anyway'
Attitude seemed to be, we are popular and therefore, don't have to make an effort any more.
Very poor value for money

Directly on the Atlantic Ocean. Great atmosphere, food very good and very expensive. One of the oldest, long surviving restaurants in Vero. Menu seafood and meat. The place for rich locals, snowbirds and tourists. The place for locals to bring their guests who are visiting from up north to impress them!

Every time I dine here, I see something I haven't seen before. It's hard to describe the interior, thanks mainly to Waldo Sexton; it has a little bit of everything related to the sea and more. This is a large, wood restaurant divided into several "sections" that make it seem cozy. The bar area is in the northeast corner and has a spectacular view of the beach and ocean; the east side of the building has huge windows that allow a beautiful view even for people not seated right by the windows. Parking in this popular and unique part of Vero is limited, but the Ocean Grill has it's own fairly large parking lot, which is great. Connected to the restaurant is a "must-see" gift shop. Not to be forgotten are the food and service; both are consistently excellent. The steaks are fabulous, cooked perfectly, tender, with no waste. The desserts are to die for. The servers are friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Although the restaurant itself is large, it's usually packed during the popular meal times, but it's worth waiting a bit to get a table. If it's busy, also expect it to get a little noisy. This is a "MUST" if you're in Vero Beach!
