“DVC members in The Disney World Complex trying "Beach Disney"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2009

My husband and I were on an extended Florida trip and had points to use on our membership due to our son and family having to cancel previously. All we can say is, it was everything and more we expected. We had a studio which for us was great but would certainly be as good for a family of 4 (or 5 with a baby). Pool was wonderful. Service was wonderful. Beach was great. Entertainment in the Main Inn was GREAT (on Thursday, Friday, or Saturdays)! We loved the campfire and the children and are looking forwrd to bringing our family in the near future. As for the view, we used extra ponts to get a beach view and that is what we got. You get what you pay for as the saying goes! To end this, I left a valuable item in the room and did not realize it! We were traveling and our children got our mail. Vero Beach sent me a notice to call and claim the item. I did not realize it until I got the notice as strange as that sounds due to our traveling. I called and was sent the item within three days! What can I say but Disney difference did it again for us. We own a timeshare in a very popular area besides Disney but I find Disney so much easier to deal with and get what you want.

This resort is a super place to relax and unwind. It has a great pool area and slide, lots of actvities for the kids, a lovely beach and a nice restaurant (Shutters). We stayed in a studio (it was all that was available) and it was very, very large. It had two comfortable queen beds, a large bathroom plus separate vanity area and plenty of closet space. The kitchenette had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and lots of cabinet room--plus it was separate from the sleeping area so you could get your morning coffee without disturbing your family. The resort also has a bar where you can also get drinks and/or appetizers. It's the perfect destination to relax and kick back for a few days (or more!), and enjoy the Disney service. Also, down the road there's a great fruit stand--Hale's--don't miss it for locally grown produce!

Exchanged through timeshare. Disney does have lots to do, but overcharges you for most of it. First floor Studio unit was very small with absolutely no view, very few windows and bushes blocking the daylight. Although the signs warn against it, everyone gets up early to stake out their chairs then spends the day defending them. If you want a chair or shade on the beach, bring your own because they charge too much. Overall it was tame and predictable, prefect for the disney lovers, but a bit boring for tropical beach lovers.

This was our first trip to Disney's Vero Beach Resort, but it will not be our last. The property was beautiful. The pool has a great slide and there are plenty of lounge chairs. The beach sand is not near as white as the panhandle's sugar beaches, but the water is even prettier than the emerald coast. The water is emerald green and is something to behold.

The grounds are well maintained and full of trees, etc. Most of the condo type units do not have a view of the ocean.

I would avoid the Shutters restaurant. It was not very good and pricey.

It has a very nice swimming pool with a fun water slide. Very nice beach, and plenty of fun things to do (mini-golf, activities for children like making paper airplanes, treasure hunts, shuffleboard, other games and nature hikes). The restaurants were very good and extremely helpful in dealing with special dietary requirements (and allergies). The Sunday brunch is amazing and all the other meals were outstanding.
Everyone was very nice & helpful and willing to go the extra mile.

This was our first trip to Disney Vero Beach Resort with my husband, mother, nineteen year old daughter and three small daughters ages five, three and eight months. We have been to Disney World seven times and decided it would be fun to go to the beach for part of our January 2009 trip. We arrived at check-in time and were told that the room would not be ready until 5 p.m. At first I was worried because I had taken the advice of other tripadvisor travelers and purchased food at a local grocery store. Staff immediately helped us unload the groceries, stored them and then unpacked and put them in our villa fridge by the time we got back to the room. While waiting, we checked out the beach and it was a very beautiful, private beach with lots of sea shells. The paths around the resort looked very accessible should you have someone in your party with disabilities. The sun disappears from the beach around 3-4 p.m. this time of year and we observed most people drift from the beach to the pool at that time.
We stayed in a two bedroom villa in Building 12. The bedrooms were very spacious with a jacuzzi tub adjacent to the master bedroom and balconies in both bedrooms. You could see a bit of the ocean from one of the balconies. We were close to the parking and road (the resort is close to a coastal road that can be busy at times) and I did hear traffic from our bedroom in the morning but it was not too distracting. The kitchen had nearly everything we needed. If you purchase groceries and plan to cook meals in the villas, I recommend bringing food storage bags and maybe salt, pepper and sugar packets. Otherwise, you should be set. There is dishwasher soap, laundry soap (for the washer and dryer in your villa), paper towels etc. We had maid service every day so our dishwasher was always unloaded when we returned (we are not DVC members so note that DVC members have limited cleaning service). We brought a great foldable cooler bag (from Sam's Club) and brought the remaining groceries with us to Disney World when we checked out.
The resort is designed so that you really feel like you are far away from everything. Even in January, the plantings around the resort were lovely--and my understanding is that these also protect the turtle breeding areas. The turtles are around between March and October so we didn't see them during our trip.
There were two cold days and the children's activities (some free, some you pay for at Eb and Flo's by the pool) were wonderful. The girls enjoyed the free treasure hunt with the hotel "pirate" and received hats and fake coins. They also like the bucket lunches at the pool restaurant and used their buckets to collect lots of sea shells. We also played miniature golf through Eb and Flo's which was $2 per person (or $5 for unlimited playing throughout your stay). One very cold morning, we videotaped the sunrise at the beach and that was spectacular.
Staff were fabulous. We had a problem with Disney Reservations being able to apply our AAA discount and the hotel staff took care of it for us. Many of the staff live in Vero Beach itself and we learned about the town, how quiet it was, the potential hurricanes and when they happen etc.
I highly recommend this resort for families looking for a nice relaxing beach vacation.

As DVC members this was our 2nd time at DIsney Vero Beach. We stayed in August of 2007 and had such a great time our kids only wanted to go back there in 2008. Unfortunately, out of Disney control, we happened to arrive the day Hurricane Fay hit. Our first 2 days were spent mainly inside playing games, etc but after several parents kept going to the staff, the pool was cleaned up and they prepared to open it. It was so hot that our kids and other kids didn't mind that it was raining and still went swimming. The staff was very accomodating and did their best to keep the activities flowing even if it meant moving the location of an activity or altering the schedule to [--] an event that could be done inside. The only downside to being stuck inside for those 2 days was parents didn't supervise their children and they were running around on all the floors and dropping things over the railing down to the main lobby where many of the activities were going on. The Disney staff, when notified of this, should have gone to those children and taken them to their parents and notified them of what they are doing, however they didn't.

Once the weather finally cleared our vacation was just as excellent as the year before. Our 7 year old went on the Turtle Troop and enjoyed every minute of it. Our 14 year old did the Teen Night out and ended up hanging with a group of 6-7 kids the rest of the time they were all there. They still all e-mail each other which is really nice.

It was also nice to recognize some of the same employees from the year prior and they even recognized us. The movie around the pool was real neat. Yes you read often about having to go off site for food and travel into Sebastien or Vero, however once you've been there once, you realize how easy it is to get around and remember where favorite restaurants are.
