We were guests in the delightful boutique hotel in which the Martinique resides. The food was superb, except when I ordered my steak "very rare", the server, John, asked if I meant "blue rare". I had not heard that term before, but figured that must mean pretty rare, so I said yes. In truth, the steak, on the prix fixe menu, was quite thin. There was no way it could have been delivered at less than medium. John should have told me that. I did ask him the approximate portion size, to which he said "I have no idea." The meals were delivered to the wrong seats, it took a couple sessions passing plates to get it right. No big deal, but not reflective of the previous rave reviews on this restaurant.
The dinners were served with delicious but unidentified sides. We had to ask what they were.
The worst part was at the delivery of the bill. He mistakenly charged one couple for the bar, and the other couple with all four meals. When questioned, he said, "Are all of you sleeping in the same room?" (Of course not, and none of your business)
The four of us are very good friends, so we would up laughing at our experience with Server John. But this shouldn't happen . . . .
