7 of us had dinner Saturday night at Cassariano's prior to going to a show at the Venice theater. We chose this restaurant because we could make reservations and it is a short walk to the theater. It has a modern and inviting atmosphere. Warm rolls were served with an artichoke spread. The pasta dishes we had included the ravioli stuffed with eggplant and the pasta bolognese and they were excellent, as was the chicken scaloppine with the Gorgonzola sauce. The creme brûlée and the chocolate mousse were memorable, whereas the lemon tort was not as lemony as it could have been. TIPS: consider sharing one of the salads which were good but not exceptional to make sure you leave room for dessert. If you show your tickets for the Venice theater you get two desserts for the price of one which is a great deal.

A formal setting with a good variety of Italian food options. The waiters were excellent and very knowledgeable about the food choices. I had the Casesar Salad for lunch and it was very good.

We had to ask 3 xs for silverware after our food came. I had soup, which was lukewarm and had a faint chemical taste. My husband had chicken rusticata, which was dry, the chicken was tough and it too was lukewarm. We asked for bread, which was brought half way through the meal and was dry and tasteless. The waiter who brought our bread in a little bowl, placed it on the table and said (as he walked away),"I assume you don't need plates for this." And kept walking. Worse Valentines meal we've shared in 37 yrs of marriage.

Five of us went there, because we enjoyed the old place. This is not the same.
It is very noisy, Felt that the wait staff could not get us out soon enough. Size of the appitizers were laughable, especially considering the price. Had to ask for the bread, and for water.

The food is very rich and heavy. Mainly white sauces with LOTS of cheeses. the one red sauce we did get tasted very acidic, and sharp. The lental soup was again very heavy, and not very tasty.
The chefs need to put a lot more of finesse into their meals, and realize more is not always the way to go.

The lamb meatballs were good, but not the pasta.
Wine list is pricey for what is on it.
