“Great new Venice restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2014 via mobile

My husband and I visited San Marco for the first time and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Service was friendly and accommodating. Food was excellently prepared. The seafood mixed grill was tasty and fresh and the steak was cooked to perfection. The complimentary pastries served at the end of the meal were a nice touch. We will definitely return to San Marco!

“Not worth all the hype”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2014

We have made two visits to this new restaurant and are not impressed. The food preparation is very nice but the ingredients are merely average. On one visit I had the Pappardelle with Porcini and Sausage. The sausage was very greasy and dripping with fat. The mushroom was huge but almost inedible. On a subsequent visit, we had the veal with mushrooms and the mixed grill. The veal was shot through with gristle as was the steak in the grill. The lamb chop was heavily fatty. The sausage in the grill was also very, vey fatty.

I would suggest that if you want Italian food in downtown Venice, you should go to either Cassariano or Made In Italy. Either is worlds better.

“Great Food Sometimes Rush Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2014

The food was really (really) good. We are well traveled and it tasted like a very good meal in Italy. The service though was sometimes rushed. We had a great main waiter (English accent) but another waiter was a bit loud. Maybe though the kitchen made us rushed, not the waiter. Plates were stacked or removed before finished. Again, food was outstanding. Homemade pasta with excellent homemade sauces. Would return in a minute, but try to slow them down.

“Just off the Marc”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2014

Very nice on the inside , with good service. But the food was just off the "Marc"
The lamb special was ordered medium rare but served well done , it's too bad because the sauce was very good . The veal with porcini mushroom was the same experience ,the veal was overcooked but the sauce was nice .We went with another couple and could not understand "house" wine pricing , with Cabernet at $11.00 a glass and other wines half the price . We like Cassariano on the same block much better , even Angelos Deli offering better prepared veal .

Its too bad , we were a little disappointed we heard mostly good things.
