“A Gem in Paradise”
Reviewed December 20, 2010

After several visits neither myself, nor any guest has ever been disappointed. All the meals have been wonderfully prepared, fresh food and presented well. The menus is varied and something for most anyones taste. Wine selection by the glass or bottle offers plenty of interesting options. Service is friendly and very attentive. A great place for quiet dining. A bit pricier than some nearby restaurants, but well worth the cost. Many locals like to eat here for special occasions, possible because the find dining at Cafe Venice a memorable experience..

So glad to finally be able to respond to all of our comments on Trip Advisor. Just learned today that I was able to do so.

Thanks for your comments. I hope the post helps future travelers and more importantly I hope to see you as a returning guest during your next trip to Venice.

For those who don't know...we do update our wine list from time to time--as other wines become less available, and/or we learn of a new one or even get a new recommendation from a customer. I am lucky enough to be able to taste many of the wines before we carry them..and if you are a real wine person...check out our website and sign up for our email list and you will be able to hear about our monthly tastings (more off-season than season) as well as our wine dinners. They are great and we usually have a speaker who talks of each wine pairing in between courses. I highly recommend them!

My husband wanted a nice dish of veal saltimbocca and we both wanted to try a new
This is the first time he had been served this dish prepared w/o proiscutto Not what he was expecting. My veal chop was bland and dry.
The service was good and our wine selection was excellent.
I observed the owner speaking to several tables in restaurant but she completely ignored our table. Not a good idea for repeat business.

“mostly boring”

I went because of the reviews and was underwhelmed. I think perhaps people in Venice FL have never had real Italian food.

“Highly Recommend”

This is a well managed restaurant with attentive service and excellent food. On this visit, all four of us enjoyed our dinner (which included bread, but not salad) selecting 4 different entrees: salmon, pork, chicken and a seafood pasta medley. The sauces are flavorful, interesting presentation and portion size just right. You can get larger portions in other nearby restaurants, but the preparation here is great. If asked, they will assist with wine selection based on the selected entrée and your wine preferences. Wine list is a little pricey, but has several offerings at $31 a bottle. We have dined here several times on other visits to Venice plus twice on this trip and will return again and again.

“Fairly good, but sometimes not”
Reviewed January 23, 2010

I've had a lovely lunch of soup and salad, a delicious dinner of their specialty seafood puffed pastry dish, and an absolutely horrible presentation (with guests) of their seafood pastry dish on another evening with raw, slimy pastry and really smelly seafoood. So inconsistent. Sometimes snooty wait staff???? Why? We should be having fun in Florida. Why do they try to make the restaurant a bit pretentious when it doesn't always live up to even good food. go for lunch and skip dinner.
