“Serendipitous Steps”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

Most of the restaurants on Venice Island are on the south side of Venice Ave. But just a few steps across the downtown parking lot on Tampa Ave. is this gem of fine dining. Tucked into a historical building we found this small but delightful French oasis. The menu, like the seating, is limited but this allows them to specialize in freshness and excellence. Our waiter Doug could not have taken better care of us, but any staff member who passed by would check to see if we needed anything. There is even a Prix Fixe menu with some significant savings. And to add to the ambience there was a young Frenchman with a softly lyrical voice performing guitar-accompanied songs in his native language. The food was well-proportioned, outstanding in flavor, and obviously prepared with love of the craft. What a fine treat! We will be back.

“Ooh La La !!!!!!”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

A small in size, but large in quality presentation. My wife and I had lunch here today and were very pleased. Although the facility is small, there are about 15-20 tables on two levels, plus outside seating. When we arrived there were about 4 other tables being served. My wife had a French Crepe with fruit, and I had a French Panini Sandwich with cheese and parisian ham accompanied by a side salad. We enjoyed our meal very much and will most likely try dinner at Le Petit Bistrot.
Try it and enjoy.......

“Flavorfull...........BUT!”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

Ate here a few months ago and at first glance was very hopeful. The waiter/owner took care of us although he was a bit overwhelmed because it was very busy that night. I ordered the beef bourgeon and thought.......French, Julia Child's signature dish, yummy right?? Well, it was yummy BUT......where was the beef???? I swear to you, I had three little pieces no bigger than a quarter, for over twenty dollars!! No wonder the French are so skinny!!!! Won't go back any time soon. Sorry!

“Thumbs Up”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

We ate here on a Friday evening at 5;30 PM. The restaurant is definitely French in cuisine and feeling. The ground floor seating is relaxed and comfortable. (We didn't check out the upstairs.)

The waitress was friendly and helpful Our starters, the house pate for Joan, and vichysoisse for me, were much to our liking. The vichysoisse was served at room temperature. It was creamy and refreshing. Joan had flounder after that. I had the beef burgundy. Both were satisfying. For dessert, there's a large selection of crepes at $5.00 that were very tempting, but we didn't try them on this visit.

With the view of palm trees out the windows, we felt for a moment we were in Nice.

What a treat to have a real French bistro in Venice. It 'll be our first stop when we're back in the area.

“Always Good”
Reviewed March 31, 2013 via mobile

They never disappoint.. Today was our fourth visit hear thi year. The crepes are always great and the included salad is solid. We recently had Beef Bourginone for dinner coupled with an absolutely super onion soup. In the past we had had lunch there but this meal made it certain we will return for dinner often. One of the best spots in restaurant rich Venicei
