I see why people have loved the Bilmar! We stayed in the tower portion of this complex, with a fantastic ocean view. The minute we opened our door we loved it. It is older, but it has had extensive renovations, so it's small, but comfortable. Sloppy Joes is right downstairs on the beach level, and had the best garden salad I've ever ate. Happy hour has great prices on beer with deck seating. We forgot about the Alaskan winter as we sat there and watched the sun set with drinks on the deck. Troubles rolled away! Everyone was smiling and nodding at each other.
The staff is very warm and helpful, but also respects your privacy. The bar across the street has excellent live music until 11 p.m., which is great to listen to...just move your chairs from your patio to the landing and enjoy. It's midnight right now and very quiet.
The room has a refrigerator, 2 burner stove top, a full set of pans and supplies, a microwave and a sink to wash everything. We like it. I've stayed in other hotels and felt penned in, but just open the curtains and there is the ocean...what could be better? This is a very nice place. Highly recommend! Treasure Island area is very cool to visit and has a great neighborhood feel to it.More
