Tried this restaurant on two occasions on a recent trip. Restaurant was busy on both occasions, but we were promptly seated. The waiters were knowledgeable and helpful. Food on both occasions was excellent

While staying at the Bilmar Beach Resort, the receptionist highly recommended Middle Grounds as a excellent restaurant. We went there for dinner and found the recommendation to be spot on. We had 7:30 reservations and were seated by 7:40. We sat at the bar while waiting for our table. Erin had a Garden Fresca while I had a Coconut Mojito. The Garden Fresca wasn't quite to Erin's liking (too strong). it was also served with muddled chopped cucumbers (which were good), but the cucumber and seeds kept getting stuck in the straw. I enjoyed the Mojito a great deal. It was light and just a little sweet. The restaurant is decorated very nicely with a somewhat upscale atmosphere. A large salt water fish tank is located in the dining area and makes for interesting viewing (if you can see it). There is also a large wine collection displayed behind glass walls that makes for interesting viewing. The walls and ceilings have unique architecture and lighting. The tables are separated by high partitions. As a result, once you are seated, you can only see the table that is directly across from you. I found this made for a very private and potentially romantic environment. For dinner, Erin had the Lemon Infused Crab cakes with risotto. The crab cakes were loaded with crab and very little, if any, filler...very tasty. I had the New York Strip (medium rare) with au poivre sauce with a side dish of roasted red potatoes. The steak was prepared to perfection and the au poivre sauce was the perfect accompaniment. Erin had an un-oaked chardonnay with her crab cakes while I had a Simi Cabernet. Both were very good. Jenn, our server, did an excellent job taking care of us. When we asked to wait with the dessert for a few minutes, she asked us to move the pepper shaker to the end of the table when we were ready (to act as a signal to her). We did and she was "on it". Our coffee and pumpkin creme brulee were there quickly. The coffee was excellent (the best we've had on this trip). The creme brulee was good, but not great. Erin and I thoroughly enjoyed our food and the restaurant atmosphere. We both highly recommend Middle Grounds.

Fabulous waitstaff...knowledgeable and not in a hurry! Food was not your everyday predictable stuff, it was wonderfully flavorful from the rice to the desserts!

The waiter was very knowledgable about all the menu items and specials. I had the Chilean Sea Bass grilled on a little plank with blackberry infusion. It was outstanding. This was a wonderful surprise. It may have been a bit more expensive than we expected, but it was worth every penny.

Sever so knowledgable about all the menu could answer any questions and promote what was good.
The ambiance on entering is very dark, but too dark really. Enable salads came first along with warm bread. The main course soon arrived and each choice was devoured and enjoyed, although somewhat expensive.
Next time get there before 5.30pm for the cheaper menu with smaller portioned, so we were told by the server. Bring elderly small is better for us so that is what we will do and visit again before leaving Treasure Island.
