“Beautiful beach apartments”
Reviewed January 8, 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of November and thought the apartments were lovely. We had booked a gulf view and as we were the first apartment at the side of the building we had a great view. We thought the apartments were spotless, apart from the mug full of water and cigarettes which had been left on the balcony, an unfortunate oversight by the maid, and disgusting thing to do by the previous occupants, needless to say we didn't use that mug for our stay! It was great to walk out of the apartments and straight along the beach, the onsite cafe was good and very reasonable. We didn't use the pool or pool bar prefering to be on the beach, but plenty of people seemed to be enjoying them. Don't miss the ice cream shack just outside the apartments, they do nice ice cream and their sundaes are really cheap compared to anywhere else in the area. We also ate at the VIP lounge, this is a great pub with a really good atmosphere and great Mexican food & cocktails at a brilliant price, definitely recommended.

Thank you for your review. We will certainly address the oversight of the cup on your balcony with our staff. We are glad you were able to experience the great food and beverage offerings on Treasure Island! Next time try a milkshake at the Shake Shack. They are addicting!

We rented from a Real Estate agent that owned the condo. Condo was dirty, blinds were broken in both front windows, gym was next door and woke us up real early. The worst was the visit from a group of teenagers that had the code of our rental and came in at midnight! We didn't sleep that night fearing someone else would be able to enter with code. We were told Ocean view! not true.... If we walked at the very end of balcony and extended our body we could get a glimpse the ocean. In the future, we would rent directly with hotel not privately. Price would have been better and I'm almost sure no one would have entered the condo at midnight. Front desk was very polite and helpfull but could not help us because the booking was done directly with owner.

We stayed here in December when the weather in florida was a little chillier than we hoped!
Located on the lovely sandy beach with a fantastic pool and hot tub , one for kids and one for older children and adults.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The suites themselves were spacious , comfortable and well equipped.
the on site cafe is great and the local restaurant were brilliant.
Thoroughkly recommend this to anyone who wants a little break from the hustle of theme parks in Orlando.

We are so glad to know you enjoyed your stay with us! While we wish the weather had been a little warmer, we would like to note that the weather pattern this December was out of the ordinary to our normal mild temperatures. We hope to welcome you again in the near (warmer) future.

This property was in a excellent spot. We had paid for gulfview. The joke is that all of the rooms have a partial gulfview because of how the building is angled. Only those booked on West building actually have full gulfview. We booked through Westjet vacations, on the booking paper it states that $100 deposit is due for your visit. No problem, we get there, we are asked for $360, and counter staff felt the need to tell us we had overpaid for our package through Westjet and could have gotten the penthouse suite. Nice. When we got to our condo, it was very nicely furnished. The problem started with the kitchen. Filthy. I had to clean the stovetop and the kettle to make tea. All of the pots and pans were put away in the cupboards, dirty. Also when I went to take a bath, the previous tenants body hair was all over the bathtub. Needless to say, I spent the first part of my vacation, cleaning. The pots were old and wrecked (coating scratched and coming off) and one metal pan. There is no starter package so be prepared to buy everything, wrap, salt & pepper...everything from scratch. Overall, the staff were pleasant, and the beach was very nice, as is their pool. It wouldn't be a bad property if they could get their housekeeping challenges fixed.

Thank you for the comments. We will forward your compliments to our staff! We regret that there was any confusion regarding your view when booking through your travel agent, and we will certainly follow up with our receptionist concerning any comments that may have been made regarding your package. While our Gulf View suites do have a view of the Gulf, our Gulf Front suites are listed as the suites with a full view of the Gulf and beach. We have passed your comments regarding cleanliness to our housekeeping department to review why this particular suite was cleared for occupancy, when it was not ready. Had we been informed of our error upon arrival, we would have gladly transferred you to another fully prepared suite or rectified the situation in the suite you occupied. Our guests do not, and should not, have to clean upon arrival. We do realize that missteps in service can be a common reason for reviewing a business on travel sites and blogs, and we appreciate the opportunity to know how we can do better via any avenue available. We take every effort to gain an understanding of our guest’s experience by reviewing sites such as these as well as forwarding our own guest surveys. We are happy to report a high satisfaction rating for the initial presentation of our rooms, and an equally high rating concerning follow through by our staff to correct the rare report of unsatisfactory conditions that might miss the inspection process.

We enjoyed our stay at Sunset Vista for its location right on the beach, views and even the amenities (full kitchen with dish washer and washer/dryer). The only complaints I had was the cleanliness and the free wifi didn't always work. The floors were filthy - my socks turned black every time I had my shoes off (we actually walked around in our flip-flops). There also was a lot of dust in the bathroom. With a place this nice, why not clean it? The outside area was clean and the staff was attentive.

We ate at three nice places: Friendly Fisherman in John's Pass for a reasonable grouper lunch, Middle Grounds Grill for great dinner and Beverly's for a fantastic breakfast.

We also went to Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa and it was one of the best we've ever been to. Universal Studios, however. was way outdated and not worth the $82 admission. Downtown St. Pete was dead at night. The Pyramid is a waste of time.

Checked into the Sunset Vistas the second week of December. The location and exterior of the hotel are beautiful, you can't beat the beach in your backyard! As for the room, well that is another story. We had a 2 bedroom suite on the 6th floor, awesome view but the room was filthy! Upon checking in I noticed long black hairs everywhere-on the floor, sheets, towels, etc...we are a blond family so I knew that weren't from us. In addition the the hairs the locks on the master bedroom & bath did not work and there were tiny bugs on the bathroom floor. We went to the front desk to let them know, they were very nice and helpful and did send housekeeping back to the room as well as a maintenance man to fix the locks. As for the tiny bugs, they told me that was something that occurs in Florida and since we didn't want them to spray bug killer they poured bleach down the drains. Well after housekeeping came it the hair was better (not totally gone) so I cleaned the floors with towels, the dirt that came up was disgusting. (yes, I know it is a beach resort but dirty floors that turn socks black is unexceptable), so once again back to the front desk. They did credit our account $50 and resent housekeeping to the room to rewash the floors--much better this time around. I have to say that we go to Florida every December and rent a condo in Orlando, never has it been this dirty that I needed to complain or had these mystery bugs. The condo was also rather small and there was only one alarm clock (not a problem for us since we had young kids in the other room) and only one hairdryer in the master bath. The beach area was clean and if you wanted a chair it was $5 a day from a business that rents them (it is much more during peak season), he drives up and down the beach to collect the money so bring cash. There is also a bucket that has all kinds of sand toys for the kids which mine really enjoyed. The pool is nice but beware if your room faces it at night your room will be very bright until they shut down the spot lights at 11. I don't think we would stay here again, there are so many other hotels in the area on the beach. Having to deal with the room being recleaned kind of ruined my opinion of this place, had it been clean (not spotless) I would have liked it better.

Front desk very friendly - but we had negotiated a price of $26.25 per night to upgrade to a beach front, at check out, we were billed $35 per night, when I mentioned it, they reduced it to $30...I should have complained further, but the girl at the front was too nice.

Room was nice, beautiful location. Great view. Worth paying extra to upgrade to beach front - "Partial gulf view" means you can only see a sliver of the water between the building - no beach at all.
BUT - it was very very dirty. Dirty dishes in cupboards, stove was disgusting, floors made your socks black in seconds, faucets in bathrooms caked in toothpaste - and my personal favorite - the baseboard in the bathrooms was covered in several years worth of dust and pubic hair.

From what I've read, this would have been fixed if I had complained - but the point is when you are paying $160 a night for a room, you shouldn't have to complain. And again, the girl at the front was so nice, it made complaining difficult.

So in all, no, I could not recommend this place at this time - but it has good potential.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback concerning this recent stay with us, and for recognizing our desire to make right any detail that is found to be unsatisfactory. We are very sorry to hear that the accommodation was not satisfactory from a cleanliness perspective. These comments have been forwarded to our housekeeping department and the oversight in the inspection process of the unit will be addressed. The accounting issue has been completely resolved as well with our regrets that there was any confusion.
