“Great place with some technology issues”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at the Blue Water mid-week and found the rooms to be utterly charming. It's obvious that the owners have put a lot of money into updating the rooms. This was a great hotel/apartment for all the basics.

While its not waterfront, you are right across a quiet, residential street from beach access.

It's clean and well maintained. Granite in the kitchen, as well as a good selection of cooking utensils. Rooms are on the small side, but a two bedroom was fine for two of us. Furnishings and linens were all updated and good quality.

My only hesitation in fully endorsing this place is the problems with access to technology. You can access public (City) Wifi, but it doesn't work well. It's a cell service dead zone as well, particularly for Verizon & ATT. The DVD player would have been a plus

When I first walked into the studio room I was in shock! It was so small. When the murphy bed is pulled out you can't even walk around. The TV is so small you can't see it from the bed. That being said, everything else was fine. It is nicely furnished and very clean. The cabinets in the "kitchen" are beautiful. There was no shampoo, hair dryer, iron etc so bring your own......... I had to pay for internet even though there is a sign outside that says INTERNET.

Room Tip: get a one or two bedroom cottage....not a studio.

Just got back from a week staying at the Blue Waters Beach Club. My wife and I had a wonderful time there. We are already talking about going back next year. I would definitly stay there again and recommend this motel to anyone. The place was very clean and well maintained. We rented a cabana and it was very comfortable however I would get a one bedroom unit next time just for a little extra room. The grounds and the pool were neat, clean and attractive. The hotel was just across a slow street from the beach. A two minute walk at most. The only negatives were the wifi service you have available in this area is not very good and we had cable TV but several of the stations had no sound.

We had a wonderful time at Blue Waters! Cottage 14 was clean and perfect for our family. We enjoyed the pool, grills, and had a nice time visiting with the other families staying there also. The beach was just a short walk and it was on a quite street. We will definitely be back!

Very clean, I did bring my own sheets, but I always do and put one on the sofa. 1 bedroom 2 baths which was great because they were small. So for each person to have their own was great. A little over priced but I did not see any bugs, so that was a plus. They were fogging a couple of cottages while we were there and I hoping that is just a preventivement measure.
TV in both bedroom and living room, way too small. My pc screen is larger. You must wear your glasses to watch TV. Not that you go on vacation to watch TV. But it is nice when you just want to sit back, and drink wine while it's raining. They are so inexpensive at this time, I think they could buy 2 for that cottage.
They could also us a couple updated washers and dryers. Dryers took way to long to dry things. Other than the complains, It is a great little area, Very close to the beach. And it was NOT a crowded beach. We enjoyed that very much. I wouldn't stay at the same time next year because the prices were a bit high, but I found that everywhere with Memorial day weekend in the vacation time. All guests very pleasant. No one bothered you. I would definately stay again. I felt very safe and would NOT have a problem staying with a bunch of girls. I would love to stay in a 2 bedroom cottage w/ the little front porch to drink wine and night in coffee in the am. Once again. The complex which is not very large, but is Very clean and welcoming. Love the little key box so you don't have to worry about losing your keey on the beach. ALSO, The AC units could use some updating The one in the bedroom was very small and did not cool off very well. Thank goodnes for the ceiling fans. Really nice place. Glad we chose it.

Room Tip: If there are just 2 of you because of the one bedroom and 2 bathrooms. It's great having your o...

We have stayed here 5 times in the past couple of years. The location is great. Sunset Beach is a very laid back casual beach atmosphere. You are across a residential street from the beach with direct access and a beautiful spot to watch sunsets. The pool is protected by the units so on a "bad" beach day you usually have a good pool day. Many families with children stay here, so depending on the time of year, you could have lots of company in the pool. The units are small without much storage - rent "one size larger" than you think you'll need. The efficiency units are hotel-room small. We appreciate being able to do laundry (free) whenever needed and having use of gas grills for cooking. There is no one on duty on location with the exception of cleaning staff that is around during the day. If you require lots of hotel-type amenities you should stay elsewhere. If you want lots of privacy, stay elsewhere. If you need to be right on the beach to feel like you're on vacation, stay elsewhere. And...as others have stated, be sure you confirm your dates over the phone (not just online). We have found the office staff to be very helpful in accommodating our "odd dates". Don't expect this during prime rental times.

Like another potential renter, I, too, made reservations and received an on-line confirmation. Beware! Your reservation isn't confirmed! You should call them to confirm before booking flights, especially if you're not booking Sun-Sat. This is stated on their website, but it isn't very visible. We had to vacate our first cottage and stay in one of the cabanas, (very small and I wouldn't recommend them for long stays unless you're extremely budget-conscious), because we wanted to stay more than a week, but not 2. Hassle. Although I was told that I might be able to stay in the cottage, I never received a phone call or visit by the property manager/office person.

Otherwise, this property is good and conveniently located a little bit off the beaten track. The cottages are clustered around the pool, which is a good size. Guests have access to laundry, beach chairs and toys, several grills, and easy parking and trash disposal. The location is near the end of W. Gulf Blvd, a side street off of Gulf Blvd, and are across the small street from the beach. There is also a public pedestrian boardwalk at the very end of the road, which is very nice, 6/10th of a mile long.

The cottages are good sized, although the bathrooms are too small. The bedrooms are good, except one of ours had no dresser to put clothes in. They are clean, but showing signs of wear, needing some paint and updated furnishings here and there. There are no sleep sofas. The bathrooms are all-together too small and the showers are even smaller! The kitchens are nice and well-appointed, with utensils and starter supplies for bath tissue, plastic bags, paper towels, etc. There is usually laundry detergent and dish soap available. I'd check before buying it.

Sunset Beach is another strip sand along miles of it. There is no restaurant within close walking distance, although Caddy's is about 3/4 miles away down the beach. Pub food.

You are close to John's Pass,(shopping, eating, walking and watching), Pass-a-Grille, a host of restaurants along Gulf Blvd, a small movie theatre, (Corey Ave), and a Publix and Sweet Bay grocery store.

Room Tip: If there are more than 2, rent the cottages with 2 bedrooms. They don't have sleeper sofas.
