I stayed here a long time ago, my family ended up staying there, last minute, we had other plans but they fell through, it really wasn't that nice inside, the Air conditioning didn't work right. i was just a hole, hopefully they have renovated, but from my time spent there i wouldn't tell my worst enemy to stay there, it was just really shady. to tell you the truth i'd rather stay at the bates motel then that dump.

I had taken my daughter and her friend there, when we asked the young people running the hotel about things to do, they were more then helpful, when we needed extra towels we got them. it was a very friendly staff. yeh the pans may have been a little outdated but i wasn't really there to cook anyway! i will probaly go back again if i get a chance,

We stayed at the Jolly Roger for 4 nights in March 2004. We had a deluxe efficiency room with full kitchen, 2 double beds and a pull-out couch. There were 5 of us, and the space was sufficient.
Upon arrival, my 3 children were greeted with a littany of warnings: to not make messes, to be quiet in the room and around the pool, to not use up all the towels everyday, etc... This did not make them feel welcome at all. Each time we did use the pool it was as if all eyes were on us and we had to keep making our children be quiet. The pool was warm and clean and had a small fenced in patio around it with chairs. No pool towels are supplied.
The motel is situated on the bay, with docking for boats. Each time our children went out the door, we were afraid someone would fall into the water. There was no fence or security measures in place between the motel grounds and the docks. You could just walk right off the grass into the water!! This is fine for adults, but with small children, it was a bit dangerous. We could never relax.
As for the room...the garbage and used towels were removed daily and beds were made, but the floor of the room, which was tile, not carpet, was never mopped for our entire stay. It got very dirty and our feet were black. The table and chair set had wheeled legs and they always made black streaks on the floor when rolled around.
The fridge, stove and microwave were ok and clean, but the pots and pans had seen better days.
The toilet was a problem. It did not flush well, and got plugged on a couple occasions. We had to go and get the manager to come and clear it with a plunger on one evening. He decided to leave the plunger in our room (in case).
The worst part of our stay was the adjoining door to another unit. Our room was non-smoking, but theirs was not. The smell of smoke was awful and it came through the door at all hours of the day and night. We could also hear every noise our neighbours made.
From the motel, it wasn't far to the beach. Just across the road and about a five minute walk to the public access. It was too cold during our stay, so we didn't go more than once.
During our stay we only met one family with kids. There were mostly older people and seniors who appeared to be living at the motel on a long term or monthly basis. It was not a child friendly place.
All in all, for $100US/night, I definitely don't think we got our money's worth.
