We (3 family of 4) stayed at Tahitian resort three nights in the end of December. All of us had great time at this quaint hotel located right on the Gulf of Mexico. It is a very laid back place that has 60th feel. We all occupied courtyard suites that were very spacious and had large kitchenette area with refrigerator, stove, coffeemaker and kitchen utensils. All three rooms were very clean and the price was right.
We chartered a small boat at Dane’s dock at John’s Pass, went fishing and caught 31 silver trout that we later cooked on the grills by the hotel and had a wonderful dinner under the palms and starry sky…
Jesse at the reception desk is such a charming and helpful young men.
Thank you very much for the wonderful stay.

Just returned from a week at the Tahitian Resort located in Treasure Island in Florida and i must say that it was very nice. The resort was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was a little small but very clean. If you like small quiet hotel on the beach, this is the place to go.

We just spent a week at the Tahitian and loved every minute. Everyone complains about it being "dated" on Treasure Island and the motels there, but that is why we enjoy it. The parking is the only problem I could find. The staff and housekeeping were all so helpful and friendly. The view is great and everything was clean. I don't know where people saw bugs, but we did not see a single bug the whole time we were there. We got fresh towels each day, the trash was removed and the floor vacuumed. The prices have gone up considerably on Treasure Island but that is true everywhere. We plan to take our children and their families to the Tahitian next June for a week. They are fighting to keep Treasure Island like the OLD Florida and I find it very charming. If you don't want OLD Florida, stay somewhere else.

The Tahitian is a well-kept independently owned hotel in a quiet beach town. We have been staying in the same gulf front efficiency for two weeks each year since 1993. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The staff is cooperative and unobtrusive. There is unlimited access to a HUGE Gulf of Mexico beach. If you are looking for Disney-style fakery or springbreak action this is not the place for you. If you want a real beach vacation - the Tahitian is perfect!

We recently stayed at the Tahitian Resort and found it clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It's an older, smaller complex but we enjoyed ourselves and will return. The pool is small, heated and clean and the beach is wide and pretty with the palms and natural vegetation.

I will start by saying that I do not stay in premium hotels and I do not expect all of the bells and whistles that go along with them. Having said that, the 2 bedroom unit we stayed in was over priced for the quality of the room and the overall quality of the hotel. I spent a lot of time researching hotels/condos before booking, and if I had spent only 150.00 more dollars we could have stayed in a premium condo.

House keeping was not as bad as others have written on here. We had fresh towels every day and staff was accessible on a regular basis. I saw no bugs of any type (we were on the gulf side). I will mention that we were there for a week, and the carpets were not vaccumed by house keeping until the end of the stay. This was the case even when there were visible crumbs and sand from the kids that staff walked right over all week long.

Other reviews were accurate about the parking situation. There are not enough spaces to even accomodate 1 car per hotel unit. Overflow parking is across a very busy and dangerous street. The nearest crosswalk is a ways down from the hotel. If you have little ones I would suggest booking a hotel on the other side of the street. Those hotels tend to have more parking. In all fairness to the Tahitian, this is the second hotel I have stayed at on the gulf side that had a parking problem. It is not very fun to arrive in the middle of the night to find no spots and have to drag your sleeping kids across a busy street with your luggage!

The kitchen in our room was equipped with an oven, microwave, sink etc. But, the utensils and cooking supplies were not in good shape. The pots and pans had handles broken off them which made them very hard to use.

I found the beds to be extremely uncomfortable. They did not even have fitted sheets on them. Most of the time my husband and I slept on top of the comforter with an extra blanket for covers.

I also felt that the pool was not clean. The water was cloudy with debris floating in it. Other guests left garbage in the pool area including beer cans when the posted policy cleary stated not to have food or beverages in the pool area.

I will not stay at this hotel again and I would not suggest the hotel to friends or family traveling to the area. I have had better experiences with the Black Pearl and the Sea Chest.

My husband and I stayed at The Tahitian for 5 days at the beginning of September. Friends of ours had recommended it, telling us that it reminded them of the way the Florida coast USED to be. We checked out their web page, and decided to book.
It really is a charming place, you get the feeling you are going back in time. The quaint color scheme ( gray and turqouise) of the buildings really enhances the feeling. Cute landscaped courtyards with a fountain, swimming pools and porch-lined walkways give the grounds an intimate feel.
The rooms are modestly appointed, with kitchenettes that hearken back to the golden days of Motels. We were amazed to see such appointments still in such great condition and working order.
The staff couldn't have been nicer. Every request we made was greeted with friendly enthusiasm. We met several other guests who told us they have been staying at The Tahitian for years, and keep coming back... we found that understandable.

Before we arrived, we were a little taken aback at some of the negative reviews we saw posted here on Tripadvisor. We arrived with critical eye, but found that none of the issues other guests had complained about to be a factor. Our rooms was spotlessly clean upon check in, and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job daily. Granted, this is not a new 5 star hotel, but Im sure many people who are tired of the same old quasi-tropical and fake Mediterranean motifs that the newer Florida hotels offer now, would find The Tahitian a refreshing change.

The clientele ran the gamut, from young married couples with children, to beach loving singles, to older couples such as ourselves, all were represented.

The beach in front of the hotel is magnificent.... sunsets to die for.... and the pool at the hotel was large and immaculately clean.
Throughout our stay on Treasure Island we met people who had lovely things to say about the hotel. Without exception, each person we told we were staying at The Tahitian knew of it, and said it is a staple of the old style beach resorts in the Tampa Bay area.

A brief list of other attractions we enjoyed during our stay:
Grouper's Restaurant, at the Thunderbird, just down the road.
Gigi's Pizza, also just down the road.
Shopping at John's Pass we saw several dolphins off the docks.
Breakfast at The Seaside Grille in St Pete Beach, though you need to drive there.

All in all a WONDERFUL stay. Such a charming place with delightful staff. We wouldn't hesitate to come back, and will be sure to tell all our friends about this little jewel on the beach
