Traveling with your beloved pet often means staying at a run down or less than clean hotel. Not true here. Everything was clean and updated. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the mattress appeared new.
That being said, we had quite a few fellow guests that felt they needed to yell across the property to one another, beginning at 7 am (which is when the pool opens, ugh) and continuing allllll day long! I thought mgmt would have something to say, but they didn't. In fact, the next day a large group of guests held an all day pool party, blasting their boom box from the second story. Apparently this is acceptable behavior at this property, because mgmt did nothing.
One gentleman even had his large golden retriever IN THE POOL. I complained, and all the mgr did was tell the guy to get his dog out of the pool. Needless to say, we didn't use the pool the rest of our stay. The next day, the dog was back in the pool! (where are these ppl from)?
Anyway, if you want a clean hotel that is a good value on the beach and don't mind excessive noise from 7am-11pm, this is your place. Not my cup of tea, but that's just me. I was just glad I didn't have an infant or small child needing to nap!
Stayed here many years ago, but this is first time since it has been renovated. If you want fancy or high-rise this is not the place for you, but we prefer smaller motels and good beach access. Check-in is earlier than most (noon, I think) which was nice (more beach-time). We were told upfront that if we expected to arrive late, to let them know that day so they could leave the keys across the st at the main hotel. The office pretty much shuts down by 5PM but they let us know and it wasn't a problem for us. We were upgraded to the largest unit with 2BR and kitchen, and best of all, nice views. It was nice to be able to cook leftovers from our evening meals and also breakfast. The room was clean and very nicely furnished. Our only complaint is that the walls are paper-thin. And in the evening seemed to run out of hot water (too many people showering?) Wasn't a problem at other times. If not for that, would give 5 stars. But overall a very nice, reasonably priced place right on the beach. Pool was nice too and was actually heated unlike some other places we've stayed on Tr Isl. We got to see some beautiful sunsets right from our room (it was chilly in january).
WE just got back today and I think the pictures online are accurate they do not promise to be a high-rise and they are not but it was quirky and clean.
Lets start by saying we have been regulars at this hotel for the last 4 years going at least 2 to 3 times a year and after this last time we will not return...started off friday night we arrived at about 7:30 office was closed, at 7:30 on a friday night really? had to cross gulf blvd to go to the hotel across the street to get the key ( do ya'll know how many people have been killed crossing that road in the dark) then we get in the room, room was fairly clean but could not see any renovations it looked the same as the previous years, went to go take a shower and had no hot water, couldnt call anyone because the office was closed. Got up in the morning and had to heat water on the stove to wash up, also when you turned on the hot water in the bathroom sink the banging was was so loud it sounded like it was possesed. had to wait till 9:00 for the office to open (when Whitney was the we never had to wait for anything) told the guy at the desk we had no hot water he said he would have maintanence come fix it, we went out for the day, when we stopped for lunch i called and asked if the hot water had been fixed and i was told yes (not true) got back to the hotel and again went to take a shower and still no hot water.. and sink water pipes were still sounding possessed. at this time we were given the key to the room next door so that we could shower, very inconvient seeing how all our stuff was in the other room. We asked for compisation and was told that they only do that if if they cant fix the problem, well i dont call going to the next room to shower fixing the problem. I wish that I knew how to contact this hotel owner so that I could call and let them know how bad this really was. I have sent alot of repeat guest to this hotel but i will not have anything good to say about Algiers again. was a bad weeked to say the least and I will be looking for a new hotel in the area to go to from now on. I would no longer recomend this hotel to anyone. and if anyone knows how to contact the owner please let me know, and on monday morning i will be contacting the better business bearu. Was this review helpful? This hotel was clean, the room I was in did not have the kitchen, but had ample room, a small fridge and microwave, and a small table with chairs. It has a pool and the beach is not right at the "door" of the hotel, but the hotel sits back some, so you have a small walk to get to the water. The office has limited hours and I believe the check-in is between 2:00 -4:00 pm. After that time, there is a note posted to go across the street to their other hotel and get your key.
There are no restaurants in close walking distance, but about a mile or so, there is a McDonald's and other places to eat.
Nicer than some I have spent a night in.... I got it for a great deal.
