“Try the Schnitzel, and don't forget the beer!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2011

What a treat to find an authentic German restaurant on an island in Florida. German Crepes House, on Pinellas Bayway in the "downtown" area of Tierra Verde, Florida is warm and comfortable, filled with authentic German decor the owners have imported from their homeland. The restaurant is small but quaint with about 7 tables and also has an adjacent bakery with all sorts of European delicacies to sample. The menu offers not only authentic German crepes, but also includes an assortment of appetizers, burgers, and dinners. You may choose from dinner-like crepes with meat or salmon, or dessert crepes. Our favorite is the "Dike Reeve" which is a light crepe topped with schnitzel and mushroom sauce. Other dinners include traditional German favorites such as sausages, sauerbraten and schnitzel dishes. Favorites include the Jagerschnitzel and the Schnitzel Holstein. All dinners come with two sides, and I'd highly recommend the red cabbage, spaetzel, or potato dumplings. There are nightly specials and the new menu now includes duck. You can enjoy traditional German beers on tap and also domestic beer in the bottle and wine. The owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome, as if you are enjoying dinner in their home. The restaurant is also open for breakfast, which I also highly recommend. If you are seeking a relaxing evening with German comfort food, the German Crepes House won't disappoint.

“Great restaurant with beautiful antiques”

This place has incredible food. Both for vegetarian or carnivores...they have crepes to suit any flavor your going for...I love the brie with poached pear and cranberry. Hubby loves the german ossobucco with bread dumplings. Great bread hot and fresh from the bakery as well. If we lived in Tierra Verde, we would surely be regulars.

“Great food and a welcome different type of cuisine from usual beach fare”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2011

I live in nearby Saint Pete Beach and ate here for the first time tonight. The food is really excellent I had the Crepe Dike Reeve which is a savory crepe with prok, mushroom, onion, sauce and garnish. My side of Spatzle was very nice and they had a good selection of German beers you don't normally find in the area. The restaurant is run by a German couple and I believe it was the adult/teenage son who waited on us. The restaurant has the feel of someones small cottage. This was a very nice experience all around.

“This place is cozy & quaint & Yummy! Real Homemade food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2011

We stopped here while riding our bikes and found this place and looked around. We stopped back on our ride back, and had a couple beers and an apple strudel with ice cream! It was amazing! It's a little pricy, but beer usually is, so not any different than most places, but it's worth the price. I can't wait to go back for the Crepes! They look delicious and know it will be homeade. They also have other items for lunch/dinner as well. The atmosphere is just so cute while close to the Ocean view a little bit. Just a perfect little place that's quiet and cozy!
