This is a very basic place to stay, but at a good price (for Keys). The rooms are small (no chair and claustrophobic bathroom), but the bed was ok and good wifi signal. There was a small flat panel TV with limited cable, but no remote so only one station was available. Overall this is a place to sleep (period). Make sure you have a late supper (Marker 88 up the road is a very good restaurant).

We enjoyed our stay with this hotel for two nights. Rooms were cozy and spotlessly clean. Bed was nice as were the linens and towels. Small bathroom, but functional. WiFi in room.

Room Tip: The kingsize bed is massive!

We enjoyed our stay with this hotel. Rooms was cozy and spotlessly clean. Bed was nice as were the linens and towels. Small bathroom, but functional. Staff was very friendly and took time to chat with us on a couple of occasions when we were relaxing outside in a little patio area. Good price especially considering the prices of other places during high season down here.

Would recommend it and would stay again. Only down side was no coffee pot in the room, but the French Cafe next door opens at 7 am each morning and has wonderful pasteries and the cuban place next door to that has wonderful coffee!

Spent three nights at the Tavernier Inn (Feb. 13-16) Room was clean and had all of the bare minimums...comfy bed, clean towels, TV, WiFi connection. There is no daily housekeeping...but who needs clean sheets and towels every day. Even luxury resorts are now doing away with that practice. The hotel is true to its roots...a taste of what hotel experiences were like in the 1920s-30s. The Cafe Moka next door was very good and offered a discount to hotel guests. I am disturbed by negative reviews that do not seem to take into account that this hotel is not the RitzCarlton. Lower your expectations a little bit and enjoy a touch of old-time charm.

Utter shock...Booked with priceline.com...First and last time.
Welcomed by a puppy that jumped up on us and chewed up bone meal all over the filthy sandy floor. The sink was falling off the wall in the bathroom, The shower looked like it had not been cleaned for a very long time. And the "cheap" tile restoration job, wow, The caulk smeared and not wiped clean, just left there to dry. Very unprofessional workmanship, My 9 year old grandson could have done a better job! Noisey old air conditioners!!! You had to sit side saddle on the toilet because the room was that small, I'm sure that was why the seat was loose and or broken, not sure which. The complimentary shampoo and conditioner along with the hand lotion bottles were clearly used by the guests before us. Hotel Mgr. said there was a coffee pot and coffee in the service room, Guess what? The pot was there, but no coffee or cups! They did have ice, It was falling out of the freezer as you opened it! No little buckets available in the room or otherwise to put it in. The outside traffic noise kept you up because the windows are bad. The bed creaked like an underpaid hooker had been using it for years. (We did chuckle about that:) The bed was clean, I will say that and we were tired so we stayed. The bamboo roll-up blinds weren't even straight on window.
We have stayed at Historic Hotels before and they were wonderful, But this one, they should be paying people to stay not charging!
Don't just drive buy...Speed!!!

Room Tip: Drive to another hotel!

Very quiet inn with comfortable bed. It was clean when we checked in and she was able to accomodate early check-in with no extra charge. Would stay here again....Cafe Moka next door has awesome food...it was very convenient.
