Owner description: As a part of the FKWBC, the Laura Quinn Wild Bird Sanctuary is home to over one hundred non-releasable, permanent bird residents as well as wild birds including hawks, owls, vultures, pelicans, terns, gulls, herons, spoonbills, and many more. Visitors are invited to learn about our birds and the fragile ecosystems of the Florida Keys. The Sanctuary is open to the public from sun-rise to sun-set. Admission is free, but donations to help the FKWBC to continue to fulfill our mission are gladly accepted. The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release native and migratory wild birds that have been harmed or displaced, to provide or locate a humane shelter for those birds that cannot be released, and to educate the public toward the importance of coexistence with all wild bird species. The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center is a 501(C)(3) Charitable Organization.

Small, but a worthwhile stop. I loved the owls in particular, not to mention the free-roaming friendly pelicans.

Good to see the work they do. Seeing how and what Brown Pelicans can get into... really make you think about it !!

“Keep them flying”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

A great stop to see some of the real Florida wildlife. Doesn't take long and is self guided. Cost is zero but contributions are welcome. Hurricane's have really hurt this place in the last couple years but they are doing their best to rebuild. Very peaceful place.

“Great quick stop to see local rare birds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

Small and peaceful bird sanctuary that had a great little board walk that lead to the water. Kids loved it and it was neat to see the birds of the area. Even though it is a short stop, I will definitely go again.
