My husband and I had spent the day morning scuba diving off Key Largo the last week of January 2014 with friends. The four of us had travelled from Connecticut, leaving as the snow started to fall, arriving in Florida to Sunny and 75. For most of the time the temperatures were delightfully shorts and t-shirts weather (while the "natives" were bundled in fleeces!) But on one particular day, as we came back into the harbor, the skies greyed, the wind blew and the rain fell, leaving us feeling like we were back home. When we asked if any of the local grocery stores offered a take out buffet of salad and soup, etc, like we have "up north", the advice was to go to Chads. And was that the best advice!
Chad's has a selection of soup to make you dizzy and at a loss for decisions! From chili to chowder to bisque. Between the four of us, we had the chili, conch chowder, clam chowder, lobster & crab bisque, and loaded baked potato chowder. We ordered them for take out but still, they were absolutely delicious and still hot when we arrived home. The chili was nicely spiced, but not over done. The conch chowder had a subtle bite to it that chased away all the chill. The lobster & crab bisque was a velvety smooth sensation. And the grilled corn muffins were a wonderful accent to the soups.
For a cup of soup, you may spend a little more than you would on a Campbell's To Go cup, but the experience is worth every cent! Chad greeted us and chatted away like we were long-time residents and old friends. The atmospher was warm and friendly and a lot of laughs!
Can't wait to go back!
