After reading reviews, we were very excited to stay here-we planned a seven day vacation at this amazing place. The suite was two bedroom and two bathroom, as promised, with a beautiful ocean view. When we arrived the first night, close to midnight, the staff was rude and gave us the wrong room key, and we had to go back to the office to get the correct key. The rest of the staff was great. The furniture was comfortable. The pool and hot tub were great! However, the 'fully stocked kitchen' did not even have a spatula or pot holders, and was sparsely stocked with very limited supply of cooking utensils/pans/plates/silverware, etc. It did not look anything like the photos on the website. There were small bugs all over the kitchen, which we reported and were told that would be taken care of the next day- we left five days later and no one had come by to deal with them. Neither the sliding glass door nor screen opened or closed easily, making it difficult to enjoy any time on the extremely tiny patio. We were not given adequate supply of trash bags-despite asking for extras (maid service is weekly, not daily). It was quite annoying to have to walk from one end of the complex to get to the main area to use the only internet available. Overall, it was okay, it was a good 'home base' for exploring the Floriday Keys, but we probably would not stay there again.

Took a family trip with the kids, loved it, service was friendly and great, amenities was perfect. Kids were able to entertain them self while we looked on from the cafe/ bar.

Along with your bathing suits, don't forget your roller blades/ scooter / bikes for great family affair. Thanks Ocean Point :D

Head down a few miles to Snappers Restaurant and Bar ( indoor and outdoor seating) or a great lunch or dinner.

Theatre of the Sea a few miles South
Robbies feed the tarpons
Ride / drive to cozy Harriets for a home made breakfast
Ride / drive to Harry Harris park (enclosed beach great for kids, playground, picnic tables, fishing off the rocks, bathrooms availabe, bring luch/ snacks) small fee to enter.

We just returned from a week at Ocean Pointe. As a previous reviewer stated the pool was closed while we were there. We were also told about the waterpark and were upgraded to an ocean view suite. The suite was spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable. There is a washer & dryer in the unit as well as ironing board. The bathrooms are well equipped with toiletries and towels. There was no housekeeping service but that was not an issue for us. The unit wasn't well equipped for doing much cooking - for example there was no frying pan. We were able to have cereal, make coffee and make some microwave popcorn so that was good for us. We were in building four on the fourth floor and had a beautiful unobstructed view of the ocean. The balconies are quite small - only large enough for 2 plastic chairs and a small patio table but enough space to sit out and enjoy the tranquility. We couldnt believe how quiet it was here. Its a fairly large complex but I guess it was off season as at times we seemed to be the only car in our lot. The complex is well laid out. It is not the place to go for a beach holiday. The beach is adequate for sunbathing and reading a book but not great for swimming. It is right beside the marina and the bottom is quite mucky as you get into the water past your knees. If all you do is get in to get wet then you will be fine. It would be a great spot if you had a boat as they have their own marina and boat launch. The oceanside cafe on site serves up some light meals but we never tried any of the food there. We stopped in for drinks one night and had some fun with some of the other guests. There is a small playground for the kids and tennis courts. We never saw anyone playing tennis the entire week we were there.
We stayed there as a base to explore the keys and southern miami. The only issue with that is that it is a lot of driving. We new this before booking this spot but I think we thought the driving would be more interesting. Miami and the Everglades were 90 minutes away north and Key West was about 90 - 100 minutes south. The drive through the keys is not particularly picturesque. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't at all how I imagined. We never had any traffic issues while we were there but when it is in high season I think this could be an issue. It is basically a two lane highway all the way through the keys and the traffic in Miami is always busy.
The purpose of our trip was to explore the keys, see the everglades and play some golf and we did accomplish all of these things. We road tripped it to Key West and spent a night there and golfed at the Key West golf Club. We visited John Pennekamp National Park. We visited the everglades and did the Shark Valley Tram tour and we golfed at Key Biscayne and at the Miami Beach Golf Club. We feed the giant Tarpons at Robbies in Islamorada and tried a margarita everywhere we went. We explored south beach in Miami and had some amazing meals in Key Largo.
I have to disagree with the previous reviewer that said there was no convenient dining. Within 5 miles of the resort there were 3 spots we would definitely go back to. The Fish House was fabulous, Mrs. Macs Kitchen was equally delicious and Sundowners - was more expensive but great view and good food - worth a trip. The yellowtailed snapper I had at the Fish House was my most favorite fish dinner ever.
All in all if we were ever to go back to this area of the keys we wouldnt hesitate to stay here. All we wanted was a quiet comfortable place to lay our heads and this filled that bill. It was good value for the money we paid.

My wife, daughter and I stayed at Ocean Pointe over a long weekend in mid-October of 2010. We were expecting a nice relaxing place to stay in Key Largo but, instead, the place was fantastic. Located just a mile or two south of Key Largo, the resort is just far enough from the commerical areas but close enough to enjoy them. Our two bedroom suite (for $138 a nite) was large, clean and had a beautiful view of the Atlantice from both the living room and the balcony. The resort itself has a nice swimming pool, a small beach, tennis courts and a marina. The staff was helpful and courteous. There is plenty of parking in front. We are going back soon.

We prebooked from UK for one week. Very difficult to find. Sat Nav does not show its location. Must make sure that you enter "Tavernier" into Sat Nav rather than Key Largo, otherwise you will never find it. Apartment was fine - a bit dated but spotlessly clean. Just about had a sea view from the Balcony. Unfortunately the day we arrived, the resort had decided to close the pool and surrounding area so very limited space to chlill out in the sun, other than the tiny beach. Not good for swimming at all and I got bitten to shreads by sandflies. Only lasted one afternoon there! Cross that the hotel did not notify us before our arrival that the pool would be closed. Offered alternative swimming at a Water Attraction Theme Park 7.5 miles away. Not our thing at all, so didn't go. This may seem trivial to some people reading this review, but as we are from the UK and we were seeking some sunshine, it was important to us.

Think that Ocean Pointe is a great place to stop off on your way down south towards Key West, but unless you have a boat, we would not recommend it as a holiday base. 2.5 miles from the nearest Supermarket and about 7.5 miles to the nearest restaurant. Cafe was awful. Our bed was broken (not by us!) and we had constant noise for two days from a hammer drill being used in the apartment next to ours. We did complain (politely) but the staff manning the front desk were not bothered. Bed did get mended (by my husband) and checked out by the resort, but still made a dreadful noise every time we turned over.

Would not rush back!

I booked this through hotwire, as I just needed somewhere to stay overnight on a trip from Key West back to Miami. It wasn't really a hotel though - it's privately owned condos, and so you take your chances with regards to the type/quality of room you're given. Whilst I had a good experience, I'm not sure I'd recommend it as anything other than an alternative to a quick stopover in a motel, just in case you get lumbered with an awful condo.

The condo we got was decorated in a rather twee fashion, but it was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. It was a 1 bedroom apartment with a bar kitchen and tiny balcony. We didn't use any of the facilities, but there was a pool, a small beach area and a cafe on site. The biggest annoyance was that no-one informed us there would be some building work going on - we were woken up at 8am by an incredibly loud noise which went on for an hour.
