Friendly staff and very clean room with a great view! The pool and playground area were great for the kids. Washer and dryer in the room was a huge plus. Very convenient location to visit John Pennecamp, and Islamorada. I would highly recommend this hotel for families traveling to the Keys.

We had an awesome time in the Keys. Ocean Pointe is a good home base to explore the Florida Keys but it is not spectacular. Too bad because with a little tweaking it probably could be a great place. The reviews on tripadvisor (good and bad) were spot on except I did not see any roaches. Our first impression was not great. Check in is at 4pm, we were there at 5:30pm and our suite was not ready. They could have apologized for the delay and offered us a complimentary drink at the bar for our trouble but they didn't. It would have been a nicer way to start our vacation rather than being thirsty, hungry, tired and angry. The floors were wet when we got into the suite. Wet slippery floors and small children=not a happy customer. We had a 2 bedroom/2bathroom suite in building 2. The furniture and appliances were updated. The beds and linens were comfy, soft and beautifully white. The surfaces were clean but the baseboards and walls were grimy and marked. The two jacuzzi tubs had dirty , dirty jets. I am not a clean freak but I could not bath my baby in those tubs. The shower curtains also had some brown stains. The kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans, cutlery, plates, bowls etc. There were small ants around the kitchen. The space was great for a family of five. Someone from housekeeping mentioned a playpen rental when they saw we had a baby and that proved very useful. The pool was nice. Lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas. The beach is very natural with lots of marine life. We loved it but if you are looking for pristine white sand beaches - this is not what you are gonna get here. With sea grass and seaweed you get sea life great for the beginner snorkeller. There is a better beach at Harry Harris park just down the street from Ocean Pointe. We had a good stay at Ocean Pointe. If you get it for a good price and you need alot of room it is definitle a good choice. We will return to the Keys again but I think we will explore other options.

Not sure why some have given this place poor reviews. If they were looking for the Ritz this is not it but well priced for all the amenities and views. Check in was fast and friendly. Great little cafe and bar with knowledgeable staff that offered great recommendations for dinner and sunset. Pool and deck is very large and plenty of seating and lots of sun. If you have a boat this is a great choice, they offer boat slips, ramp, and stations for cleaning fish. The grounds are surrounded by mangroves and nature that offers a true Florida Keys experience. You can even kayak off the small beach. The Keys are not known for sandy beaches so if that is what you are looking for....stay on the mainland. Our unit 4202 was very clean, comfortable, and great view! I would certainly stay again for quiet and relaxation. I gave this property five stars for friendly, comfortable, clean, and value. Thank you Ocean Pointe Suites for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Unit 4202 offers two bedrooms, with a King bed in Master and Jacuzzi tub. Second bedroom offers two...

First off let me say that I was more than skeptical about staying at this place. I was able to secure a great deal and figured it was worth a shot. Upon arriving at the property you first realize that this is defintely a fishing area, the smell of fish is in the air constantly. Check in was quick and simple and the front desk was courteous the three times I dealt with them. Housekeeping is only provided if you stay seven days, that means they will replace nothing. We had to call down to get more towels and toilet paper. The towels and toilet paper were brought up within 15 minutes of our call. The grounds are home to a number of cats that are their to keep the rodent population down. I only saw one of them during our 5 day stay. Upon entering our room we were happy with the layout and decor of the room, but the mattress on the bed was absolutely horrible and I didn't even pull ot the couch bed to see if it was even better. The beach was less than stellar, but as we found so are most of the beaches in the Keys, with the exception of Sombrero beach the rest of the beaches we stopped at were full of seaweed. Overall the room served its purpose and we didn't stay around the grounds a lot. The pool is quite big and even with 30-40 people in it wasn't crowded at all. If you are looking for a place to stay but not a place to be pampered and waited on hand and foot, then this is a suitable place.

Room Tip: get a room on the second or third floor so you can see the ocean over the mangroves.

We just returned from staying at Ocean Pointe Suites for two nights. I had read all of the reviews so I knew more or less what to expect. The unit we had (4304) was very clean and well maintained. If they would replace the living room furniture, it would be just right. We had our teenaged son with us and when we went to pull out the sofa bed, there were no springs to support the mattress and it was impossible for him to sleep in it. He just ended up sleeping on the couch itself. The balcony, although crazy small, was a very quiet, peaceful place to sit, sheltered from the sun and taking advantage of the great breeze from the water.

The resort is well maintained and really gives you the feeling of being in the tropics. The pool was quite nice but the water temperature had to have been in the upper 90's so it was too hot to swim in it. The beach is just what you should expect from a beach on the Keys - rocks in the water and sea grass. It is a pretty location though.

A couple of thoughts - they really do need more help on the front desk. It seems to take longer than you would expect to register and if there are multiple people there, the wait is quite long. When we checked out there were two families checking in and only one person there to help even though there was another person visible in the office behind. Second issue - Internet charges. They are ridiculous - $6/day PER DEVICE! That is absolutely insane! We didn't pay that option as we knew that there was a Starbucks in Key Largo and a McDonalds just south that had free wifi. Hint.... check for wifi when you're in your room - you just never know what's available.

Would we stay there again? Probably not but it was sufficient for our purposes, quiet, convenient and close to dive shops.

I stayed at Ocean Pointe with my family last weekend. The suite shown online was NOTHING like the one we had. All of the suites are individually owned and (presumably) maintained, because ours couldn't be further from the picture. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite and the "sofa bed" that my aunt and I were supposed to sleep on was a joke. The cushions were stained and dirty, and when we pulled the bed out, the mattress had holes all along the bottom and springs were actually poking out. Not to mention it didn't even have any bedding. We called the front desk to request several blankets and pillows so that we could sleep on the floor instead. It took three hours and two more phone calls (the last of which was with the manager) to get any bedding. The manager was apologetic and offered us $50 back, which is nice but doesn't make up for sleeping on the floor in a $200/night unit. The kitchen was dirty and unequipped with even basic supplies (dishwasher detergent, cutting board, salt and pepper), the sinks in both the bathroom and the kitchen were clogged, the toilet didn't flush properly, and there were Palmetto bugs in the bedroom. My cousin also reported that the mattress in the bedroom was uncomfortable- far from the "pillow-top" mattresses promised on the website. I would never stay here again and the only reason that I'm not giving it one-star is because once we finally got through to the manager, he and the staff who brought our blankets were friendly. Do yourself a favor and DON'T STAY HERE!

On behalf of our staff please accept our sincerest apologies. We care about your observations and have brought your concerns to the attention of the appropriate department managers. I took a chance even after reading some questionable reviews. They came in handy...The 1st unit we were assigned was not updated and the pull-out sofa was tiny. We had 6 people staying so the pull-out had to fit 2. We went back to the office and requested a different unit. The next unit was MUCH better 5305. This unit had been completely updated with a walk-in tile shower in the master, new kitchen with granite counters & stainless appliances. All the furniture was modern with a sleek look. Flat panel tv's in both bedrooms and the family room. The fold-out was a nice futon and was sufficient for 2 teens to share. The balcony is very very tiny...they had 2 plastic chairs & a table out there...it would have been more usable with nothing out there...at least then you would have a place to stand and enjoy the view. I understand all the balconies are the same so just understand what you are getting. Now all that said I believe the owners spent all their money on the renovations & didn't allow enough to stock the kitchen. Bare minimum...we had to constantly wash plates, bowls & utensils. We had to purchase some cheap tin pans for the oven. I suppose they don't really expect you to cook just make sandwiches. The complex itself is average. Everyone was friendly but they don't go out of their way for you. The pool was closed for 2 days while we were there for painting. It would have been nice to know that when we were making reservations. They gave us passes for a community pool about 7 miles away & called it a water park. Well it had water park features in the baby pool area but nothing for the older kids (not what we expected). This was an inconvenience & after registering our complaint at checkout they gave us a $50 credit. Their private beach is ok for sitting and soaking up sun but don't recommend swimming. If you do water shoes are a MUST!!! The gazebo was nice, especially at night when the storms were off in the distance. Once the pool was re-opened it was nice & they have a hot tub but it was way too hot to even check it out. We also enjoyed playing tennis and using the complimentary rackets. All in all it was a decent stay & I may would give them another go.
