Stopped in here because I heard about the renovations. Black and white checkerboard floor, a few token fake albums on the welcome lectern, good service, reasonable prices. I had the beef vegetable soup (with hamburger meat, carrots, green beans, limas, potatoes, and celery in a nice tomato base), and a side salad (crisp crunchy iceberg, chopped tomatoes and onions). Attentive server, drink refills, prompt service. Added a To Go order, and it came out quickly. Nothing fancy here, but hopefully Robert Irvine's advice has been heeded and they will continue to serve good local food to everyday local folks.

We specifically came to this restaurant after hearing it had been involved with a tv makeover. Our service was bad. Had to ask for numerous things that should never have had to ask for - drink refills, ketchup, crayons for my daughters coloring page and the cheque. The floors and bathroom were filthy. At the end of the hall by the bathrooms is an exceptionally dirty broken bifold door off its hinges. Yuck. There were two menus - a regular menu and one a specials menu that I surmise was probably the new menu items from the tv show. I ordered onion rings that were supposed to come with some "special sauce" (it never arrived so I can't comment on it) but the onion rings were pretty clearly some sort of previously frozen nastiness that was completely flavorless. I ordered a BLT sandwich off the "regular" menu. It was completely unremarkable. Boring store bought bread slathered with plain mayo. Bacon was nice and crispy, tomatoes fresh at least but I could have done better at home in 5 minutes. The Mac and cheese for my daughter off the kids menu was plain old Kraft dinner seemingly just warmed up in the microwave. Gratefully, the prices were low.
I was super disappointed overall and cannot recommend and will never go back.

Went to Soup to Nuts at 4PM after reading that it had recently been re-done by Robert Irvine on "Restaurant Impossible". They had two menus with a five item Robert Irvine menu. I ordered from that-ordered shrimp that we're to have horseradish and wrapped in bacon with some barbecue sauce. It was five small shrimp swimming in jar barbecue sauce in a small shallow bowl. ($8.00) ordered the fries and gravy which was also very messy looking. Floor was very dirty and old, ceiling was stained, vents very dirty, bathroom old with broken bifold doors in hallway next to it. Renovations added unfinished wood next to old booths which was rough to touch. Service poor. We got our silverware off a nearby table. With small bowl, no plate to put shrimp tails.

Tavares has other great places like Al's Landing, Lake Dora Sushi and new Cajun restaurant. Am disappointed in Soup to Nuts!

After not patronizing SOUP TO NUTS DINER for some time, we've gotten to really like it again. Hamburger steak is a favorite. Their huge cinnamon roll in the morning is 'to die for' when heated and buttered ... wow!! Sometimes crowded, but sure worth the slight wait.

This little gem is nestled in an obscure shopping center. It's a restaurant mostly catering toward locals with a 50's decor. The food is reasonable and very good. Think booths, neon lights and Elvis. It's a fun place.
