The hiking trails are beautiful and the park is very clean and secure. Park rangers are very knowledgeable and are happy to answer questions. The visitors center is nice.

“Used to be Better”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Not taken very good care of. Lack of staff. The county has cut funds and the parks are suffering. Walk on a sandy trail is about all there is. Building exhibts are old, no gift shop. It used to be a lot better.

“A fantastic place to spend a day”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

Everything about our visit was first class. The visitors' centre provided a wealth of information about the flora and fauna of the area. The staff there were friendly and helpful. There is a boardwalk which leads to the start of the trails. We took the 'wilderness trail' - about 4 miles of easy, level walking through the forest. We encountered a juvenile ibis on the route. It was wet in places - appropriate footwear is advised. It took us about 2 hours to complete the loop. There are picnic tables close to the visitors' centre. We also took the bird walk - very little avian activity but we did meet a gopher tortoise ambling along.

This is a fantastic facility for which there is no charge. However donations can be made to support the preserve.

Highly recommended for everyone who likes walking and the natural attractions of Florida.
