We visit the aquarium in Tarpon Spring every year. It has only two rooms, but the kids can touch sea creatures and feed stingrays and sharks. There are many shows throughout the day with alligators, snakes, shark/fish tank dive, etc. It doesn't take long to get through so you still have time to visit the rest of the Sponge Docks, unless you have a daughter like mine that can spend her entire day at the aquarium petting and feeding the stingrays. We usually go on a boat ride, see the aquarium, have dinner, and make a whole day out of it.

We did not know what to expect, but were very pleasantly surprised with our visit. The facility is small, family-owned and operated, and showing its age a bit, but the species they had on exhibit and the terrific guide made it all worthwhile. Go early and get stamped, then yo can wander back in at various times when they do the feedings spread throughout the day. It is at the end of the Sponge Docks, so it is easy to pop back in.

We were strolling down the street when we noticed the aquarium and the shows which they have so we tried it out. "We" being three senior adults. We enjoyed it immensely. Scott Konger, the owner, was our guide and feeder of the eels, sharks, alligator, and turtle. He brought out Chloe, the 17-yr old Burmese python which we were allowed to stroke. It was fun and informative as we learned, and observed, that eels cannot see their food well; they rely on odor. It would be fun place to bring your children and grandchildren also.

I recently went to Tarpon Springs after being there 15 years ago, so I was excited to see it again and it’s Aquarium. It is a nice wee place, very reasonable price and staff very friendly but I was shocked at the size of the enclosures. There was what looked like to be an adult Alligator in glassed cage with a small amount of water just enough for its body to turn in and a small tank with a young alligator. It was exciting to see so close but I really was sad to see such small areas for them. Then the snakes were in smallest tanks/cages, again just not big enough for their size but again they were amazing to look at .There was shark and stingray feeding which as very exciting and scary as they are fast. Although they were just small sharks and stingrays, again I could not help but be sorry for their boring and small tanks/pond to swim in. They were just concrete not any rocks or sand to at least give them interest. I really do hope with the money they get from there tourists they will invest in a bigger building to put in better and larger enclosures for those amazing creatures or even better if they can't send them to a better home. Poor souls !!!
