Nice clean hotel, centrally located near the airport. Check in was quick but the agent was not welcoming and friendly at all. I had read that the rooms faced the offices and when I actually saw it I realized how close that distance was.So I asked for a room facing the marina, it was a partial view and cost an additional $20 per night, all that they had available was a room with 2 double beds. I asked if they could move the beds together, she said they could not, I asked if I could, she said yes. We get to the room and there are 2 double beds separated by a good size table. With the weight of the beds I realized I was not going to move it. There was a fairly big table in the corner with a desk chair and a club chair in the corner. With the space constraints you could not use the club chair at all and if you used the desk chair you had to skim by the bed.Since the check in was so unhelpful I did not go back that day. I did go a couple of days later and they offered to move me to a king bed room, I declined, my point was I wanted them to be aware of the space constraints with the set up . Otherwise it was fine, nice bed, nice bed linens, thin towels.

This hotel, hidden in a business complex, is quite a good deal, especially if you get it on PL (60$ per night). Check in was pleasant, and I was given a room overlooking the offices....I asked for an exterior view which they gave me (albeit overlooking the outside of the business tower). The room is very nice, with a high perched bed which is super confie, HDTV, a nice bathroom all with a nice Florida tropical motif. The pool on the 9th floor is small but good for laps, the area is conducive to relaxation. The gym is small but well equipped. Free parking and internet. Well located for shopping and airport. The b-fast is 16$, not too expensive for this type of hotel, but other places abound around for cheaper options.

The reception area is spacious and modern, and the reception staff were very friendly. The rooms are generous in size, with chunky furniture, and big, plush beds. We had such lovely nights sleep! My only complaint with the room was the view from the window - whilst sitting in your room, you have to keep the blinds shut or the people working in the office block opposite will be able to see you (we had quite a few people waving at us!).
The steak restaurant was wonderful, really delicious food and cocktails, but expensive.
The breakfast was not included in the price of the room, but for $17 plus tax, we had an American breakfast buffet which was out of this world! Everything was well cooked, fresh and beautiful, and our coffee, tea and fresh orange juice was topped up every ten minutes.
The hotel is set on a very busy main road, but across the road is a shopping complex, with restaurants.
We would stay here again if we ever go back to Tampa.

I stayed the week before Christmas for a shopping weekend at the West Shore and International Plaza malls. I was upgraded to a junior suite on the corner with a lovely bedroom and was given coupons and certificates for the malls.

Great service and friendly people. I am unclear about the previous post stating that Intercontinental standards are slipping across the USA. Totally disagree with this, and if you look at the current issue of Business Traveler Awards 2010, you will see that Intercontinental is rated as the best hotel chain in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. And the Intercontinental in Tampa clearly meets this standard!

The executive business suite had so much air freshener spray it was absolutely a nightmare and I had to take medication to prevent asthma in there. I'm not sure if it was in the air machine, or sprayed way too heavily on everything in the room including the bedding but it was gagging. The bathroom was small and not great. The conference room area was nothing special and thankfully the sleeping area was not visible from the conference area. Overall, it was a tired, smelly, poorly decorated, unexciting space.

Lovely hotel, close to West Shore Mall and TPA. Free shuttle to and from TPA, although you have to ring hotel to advise them you are waiting at the airport. Coffee bar quite expensive. If you have an atrium facing room, you will be opposite fully staffed offices, this can be a privacy issue, also means little natural light enters room. Big comfortable bed, nice bathroom and outdoor pool on 9th floor. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Good free business centre, can be busy at peak times.
