“Very nice place”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

The parking garage isn't evident when entering the property so the very nice valet directed us to it and directed us from the garage to the lobby. Location is very good for access to the airport or shopping. This is a large place - we didn't get a chance to explore and only stayed on night. Though it is acknowledged at check in, Priority Club membership doesn't get you any perks here. Our 6th floor room was very nice and clean, the bed was comfy enough (I am a fitful sleeper). For dining, Shula's is on site but other options are within an easy walk toward the Westshore Mall. After dinner elsewhere, we got drinks at the bar - nice mojitos and margaritas. Tip is included in your bill which gave our server no incentive to provide good service. The only breakfast options I noticed (there could be others) were steeply priced room-service or a little counter between the bar and the lobby that sold coffee and pastries. We did not use the pool, business center or the $12.95/day wi-fi.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property and share with others. We do have a great location close to nice dining options, as well as shopping and entertainment venues. For breakfast we also offer a wonderful breakfast buffet inside Shula’s, hopefully you will have the opportunity to try it in the future. Thanks again for all of your great feedback.

My family stayed here just one night while waiting for a flight. The hotel was ver nice--everything was clean. It did cost us $25 to rent a small refridgerator. What's up with that? We waited for 30-60 minutes for them to bring it up to our room. Not sure why they are not in the room already.

With nine floors and 424 rooms, the InterContinental tampa does swift business and appeals to a broad spectrum of travelers. During my stay, I witnessed families with kids enjoying the pool, a gaudily dressed wedding party making its way from the lobby to one of the banquet rooms, a knot of film crew regulars enjoying drinks at the Japanese fusion boite Sushi-Teq, and corporate types from the nearby business district three deep at the raucous cocktail lounge RumBa. There's no question this is a luxury property, but it manages to be grand without feeling pretentious.Have a visit atleast to see the grand building

My wife and I stayed at this property for the second time this past weekend. It also was our anniversary. I want to give a shout out to the valet outside. Since they are the very first people that guests will encounter, I hope the management staff recognizes their excellent attitudes and positive outlook. Everytime we left the property, we were greeted by our names...we never waited for the car and the help with the luggage was awesome. We pulled up, checked in at the front desk and then without seeing our room, we had to leave for another appointment. When we returned, everything was in perfect order. Luggage delivered.
Upon learning it was our anniversary, we were upgraded to a suite on the 1oth floor. Very nice 2 room king with great skyline views. The hotel also sent up a great cheese and fruit platter and a bottle of champagne! That was very good service in our opinion!!!
Like the other reviews, comfy beds, great amenities, etc...no worries.
The only glitch was that the room was warm...maybe because of the repressive heat going on since this room is in the front of the building...
My wife and I had a little different view of the pool. Certainly nice. Certainly a nice view too. But we both felt it lacked the ambiance and perhaps charm that the hotel itself has. There just seemed to be something missing - perhaps a better bar service or trees, jazz music or something. But to be sure, at the end of the day it was a pool that was well maintained with PLENTY of fresh towels and complimentary water.
I would like to have seen a lessor priced option for dining. We have eaten at the Shula's steakhouse before and weren't overly impressed for the cost...good...fine...but we prefer other places - and the little sports bar got food from Shula's...You CAN walk to Maggiano's, Mitchell's Fish House, Palm. Or a very short taxi can take you to a huge assortment of places...You also can walk to the Walgreens which carries beer and wine. A full liquor store is next door to the Walgreens.
I also will give a shout out to the entire staff...This was the weekend after the RNC and those folks worked almost 24 hours. Would not have known it. Everyone was very, very nice and pleasant.
Like I said, this was our second stay at this location. We are not priority or anything here, so internet would have cost us 13 bucks a day (Being a Hilton Diamond, I had forgotten that there was a charge!) and I for one am beginning to look at these types of charges as deal killers, but since I didn't use it. I chose valet, and knew it was 18 a day...
Having said all this, we will be back again I am sure.
By the way for a business venue , this would be killer...no too good for the kids...

Room Tip: Nothing special here, stay away from ice, exits and elevators. All rooms are very nice. As for upgra...

We had a very lovely time at the hotel. The staff was very friendly and the room had an excellent view. We stayed in the Junior King Suite, we would have preferred two bedrooms but there were none available.

The pull out sofa bed wasn't exactly comfy for the kids but it was the best they had. The attention to details and the amenities available in the room were perfect, everything you could want.

They let us check in at 11:30am which was truly wonderful! In addition, we did the aquarium package which was excellent! They allow you to keep a beta fish in your room for the duration of your stay, the girls loved it! Also the Florida Aquarium is well worth a visit, or two.

Room Tip: Pool is on the ninth floor may want to avoid the floor if you don't want too many people walking...

Very good experience. Very nice rooms 1114 and 1115. Beds were fantastic. Shower was very powerful...just the way you like it.! Good service both valet and front desk. Rooms near the elevator might be a little noisy, as you hear the hum of the elevators going up and down.... I told my wife it sounded like a fog horn on Tampa Bay. It really was not a problem and quite soothing. AC was great. The key to the self parking is to park on the 2nd floor or higher and just take the short elevator down to the lobby and you are in your room in no time. If you park just as you enter, you'll end up walking all over the place trying to find your room.....I would stay here again.

Room Tip: As for a room away from the elevators.
