“Only one complaint”

Comfortable, clean. Nice TV, free internet. Only complaint is breakfast. Coffee ran out, the person was told and took forever to refill. I also am used to free breakfast like at Embassy Suites and choice hotels. Paying for eggs... no. Won't stay again when I can get free eggs (protein) breakfast. They did offer some free stuff but not eggs etc. Also had rewards that was never applied to our account when I was told it would be. Coming back to Tampa yes, staying here no, when there are so many other options. No pool or hot tub either. The staff was fantastic, helpful and friendly.

I come in at nine in the evening. Nasty sandwiches, no other food besides a soup for five bucks that is a spoon full. Chipped and dirty doors, come down at 9.40 and no sign of breakfast. Why? Because it was over 10 minutes ago? Really??? No room service nothing to order!!! Are you kidding me???

This was our first stay at any Hyatt property and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality. For the price it certainly beats out any other similar hotel. The staff is very welcoming and friendly, they will hold your bags if you arrive before the check-in time, they offer a tour of the amenities, there is a full cafe that also serves beer/wine/food, wifi is free and there is free breakfast each morning. The room was large, with a full living room, large flat screen tv and a kitchenette. If you sign up for their free rewards program you can also request a late check-out, which was very easy and helpful for us. We were very happy with our stay and will definitely be considering other Hyatt Place properties in the future.

We've stayed at the Hyatt Place Chain before and it's a fairly decent chain. We booked a 1- King Bed suite here for a 2 nite stay in June. Here is the detailed review:

Hotel Location: The hotel is situated by the airport and also off the 275. It's very close (0.5 miles - 2 miles) to two large malls, grocery stores and also restaurants.

Noise Level: Since it's a bit away from the freeway, you don't get a lot of street noise. However, there can be some airport noise early in the morning (7 am). So you cannot sleep-in late if you wanted.

Room: The Rooms are spacious, clean, modern and have a nice look and feel to them. They have a large flat screen TV, good internet access (free WIFI), fridge, kitchenette counter and kitchen sink.

Service: Friendly and helpful people. Quick to respond to any problems you may have.

Negative: Very small bathroom. The door is placed in such a way that it's not easy to get in the actual bathroom. We're thin people - so we could squeeze thru, but a larger person would have a problem.

Overall I would recommend this hotel to others - either for business or for family/pleasure. It's centrally located to everything you would need around town. Free WIFI and free parking available.

Spent two nights here during a business trip to Tampa. After having spent the first night in the Doubetree, I switched to the Hyatt Place. (DT had unbearably loud airco; couldn't sleep there.)
This was my first stay in a Hyatt Place and I absolutely liked the place. Reception is combined with a coffee shop which turns into a bar during the evening. Food was average but good value-for-money and the staff was uncredibly friendly.

The rooms were very spavious with a nice seating area were you could wotk and watch TV at the same time. The work area was a bit tucked away in one corner but had everything I needed. As opposed to my previoous hotel in Tampa, the air condition was a new model and was comfortably silent.

The only downside for this property I can think of is that in the immediate location nothing much can be found in terms of nice restaurant etc. There is a good shopping mall probably half a mile away and the airport is around the corner (Note: I couldn't hear any aircraft noises).
Recommendation: If you are looking for a good value, clean and comfortable hotel in Tampa, I striongly recommend the Hyatt Place. Since Tampa is so small, you can reach almost any place in the city easily. It's well located near the airport and the drive into downtown, Ybor, Rocky Point and even Clearwater is fast.
I will definetly stay at the Hyatt Place again and can highly recommend this property.

Wow! Thank you for making the switch from the Doubletree to our Hyatt Place in Tampa. We are starting to get and hear these comments a lot as people start to discover the Hyatt Place. Many hotels (as it seems you discovered) have a big lobby and bigger, louder bar option but once you get to the room, the disappointment sets in. We always want to show our hotels value by offering the well appointed beer/wine cafe bakery as well as the room that offers an 8 foot sectional "cozy corner" couch, 42 inch HD TV, Hyatt Grand Bed, granite countertops, and plug n' play panel which allows you to make the 42 inch TV your monitor (for meetings) or simply plug in the Wii or other gaming system. We realize you spend most of your time in the hotel in the room so we have made this our focus! Your not paying for brass and glass here.

Please know we do have the Ruth's Chris Steakhouse directly in front of our hotel and within 500 yards we have the International Plaza mall with the Captial Grille, Ocean Prime, Cheesecake Factory, Chammps, and many others. Our shuttle will take you there on demand! Not to mention that we have food available in our hotel (cooked to order) cafe bakery 24 hours a day!! Thank you for trying the Hyatt Place and we hope to see you again soon when you visit Tampa or any of our convenient 166 locations. Thank you so much for your review, time and business!!

Could not have asked for anything better in a airport hotel. Friendly efficient staff, wonderful large hotel rooms with divided living room and bedroom, comfortable beds and very clean. It is a easy couple minute drive from the airport. There are two large malls within a mile and lots of restaurants. It is also only a few miles from downtown Tampa.

Hyatt Place Tampa Airport/Westshore

Dates of Stay: Wednesday 2/16/11 - Sunday, 2/20/11
Total Nights: 4

In a nutshell, a very relaxing and restful property in a truly convenient location -- great for a stay before/after a flight or just to get away from it all!

Now, for my detailed review:

My wife and I spent several nights here in mid-February as she needed a quiet and relaxing property to get away from it all and prepare for the Florida Bar Exam; this property proved to be the perfect place for her to study. The rooms seemed extremely quiet, the large desk provided ample study space, and the free high speed internet made it possible to study and work with ease.

Upon check-in, we were greeted by name at the Front Desk and the Front Desk Agent even specifically wished my wife best of luck studying and promised her a very quiet room to study. It is always nice to see such personalized service and prompt attention to the comments manually typed into the online reservation form. Check-in went very smoothly, and, as we had never actually stayed at a Hyatt Place property before as we normally prefer Grand Hyatt or Hyatt Regency, the Front Desk Agent took her time to show us around and explain the Hyatt Place Amenities to us. All-in-all, a very pleasurable check-in experience.

Upon reaching our room, we were very happy to find that we truly did have a perfectly quiet room -- we had been placed in a room on the top floor, at the very end of the hall ... far away from the elevators and any noise. This provided my wife with some perfect peace and quiet to study -- I will admit, the proximity to the airport does allow for some noise from airplanes, but we did not notice it much or even find it to be bothersome. It comes with the territory at any airport property, but from the many airport properties that I have stayed in, the noise was not bad at all.

The room itself was rather large, and, from what I gather, is rather common for Hyatt Place properties. The room is divided into two basic sections, with a small privacy wall between the living area and the bedroom. The living area contains an extremely comfortable sofa and ottoman (dubbed "The Cozy Corner" by Hyatt, a name that is truly fitting!), a large work/computer desk, a small wet-bar with mini-refrigerator and coffee maker, and a very nice large 42" flat-screen HDTV that could be angled to face either the living area or the bedroom. One very nice feature about the television is the fact that it has the Hyatt "Plug Panel" which allows for one to plug in any number of media options, such as ones laptop, a DVD player or a game system. This is a very nice feature, as many other hotel brands these days have plugs that are impossible to access -- but, Hyatt Place puts all the plugs right out in the open! The bedroom was also very nicely appointed, with an extremely comfortable king sized bed. Just ahead of the bedroom was the bathroom, with a decent sized closet, very new looking vanity area and then a separate room for the toilet and the bath/shower. The bathroom included the standard Hyatt Portico Bath Amenities and the vanity allowed for plenty of room for personal items. All-in-all, a perfect room at a perfect price!

As for the food options, it was typical Hyatt Place fare. There was a nicely arranged continental breakfast for free each morning, with hot menu options also available for purchase -- the cinnamon french toast was quite tasty! They also brew Starbucks coffee throughout the day, and they have a very well filled "Grab-and-Go" case with numerous options -- the cookies and brownies were VERY good! For lunch and dinner, there is an equally well styled menu of options available for quick and easy order and purchase via a touch screen computer system. In addition to the food options on property, this hotel is within a very quick drive to many area restaurants, so one will never go hungry staying here.

One must also note that in an age where many hotels brands are ending free airport shuttle service, this property offers such a service, and it appears to be very quick and efficient.

Finally, although we did not have time to use the pool, this property does offer a very nice looking pool which would be perfect for one to cool down on a hot Florida day!

All-in-all, this is a wonderful Hyatt Place property, in a perfect location that offers rooms for perfect rates. I would highly recommend this property for anyone needing a place to stay near the Tampa Airport, or for just a quick trip to get away from it all!

Myself and the staff cannot thank you enough for such a detailed review of our property. We think it is important to "listen" to our guests and getting you that room away from all possible noise was certainly our top priority (knowing she had such a big exam upcoming). We are so happy this worked out so well. We are glad you enjoyed our special cookies and brownies we make each day and hope you will get to try the pool if you visit us again. We hope to see you soon and value your Hyatt Gold Passport membership and your business!! Thank you again for your time with this response and for staying with us!
