This property does not feel like a Westin - but an "old Sheraton". They are undergoing renovations, and perhaps when they are done, it will be up to snuff - but not yet.
I was unfortunately not in a renovated room - which means no head board on my "heavenly bed". The furniture was old and traditional looking as opposed to contemporary. The "mini bar" was actually just a selection of a few chocolate bars in the armoire. The carpet was stained.
BUT - the staff was full of apologies, with signage describing the status of the renovation, a personal letter from the sales manager upon check-in, etc. The front staff was extremely helpful and eager to please.
Harbor island is right in "downtown" - over a small bridge, thus the "island" part of the name. There is no beach - you are on a canal, with a small pool. The hotel feels very corporate, although there were tourists about. There was a great band playing in the bar area at cocktail time, so they are making efforts to enourage leisure travelers, but it is difficult to overcome the location - just next to the convention center.
My vote - you can find better - I wish I had.
