“Great bayfront location”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

We quite liked this hotel, and the waterfront location is lovely. Staff were friendly, our room was clean, the pool was large and appeared well-maintained, and there's a gazebo on the pier for sitting and watching the bay. The shuttle service (which we hadn't known about) is a strong point, and even picked us up from dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Our room and balcony overlooked the parking lot and palm trees, and while we didn't have a water view from our window, we could have thoat view from lounge chairs on the lawn, from the pool, and from the restaurant/bar patio, at any time, so we had no worry about noise drifting up to our room across the water from the bar/restaurant opposite, or from the hotel's own restaurant patio. We thought we had the best of both worlds.
I was less impressed with the breakfast at Hogan's Beach, which is located in the hotel. Staff were pleasant, the breakfast was a bit so-so (and is not included in the price of the room). In fairness, the restaurant had only opened about 6 weeks before our visit, and I suspect that it will get better over the next few weeks (and we'd found the appetizers from the afternoon menu delicious).
The only housekeeping item of note was that no one cleared the lunch plates and glasses left on one of the tables by the pool, until the following morning. Hopefully that was a glitch in areas of responsibility that has since been fixed.
Note that this is not a downtown hotel, but we found it very convenient to the main route into the city, and also the route and causeway to St. Pete's, Clearwater, and Dunedin.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, choose one overlooking the parking lot, rather than the water.

If for no other reason to visit, this is a wonderful place to visit to enjoy a relaxing view. Additionally, the rooms are nice, clean, and the staff attentive and friendly. Great location near the airport too! All in all, a great stay!

Breakfast service, noise and quality of food was terrible. Large group of morning diners using

profanities about every other word. Server did not address the issue after I complained . Hotel

manager didn't seem to care. Will not stay there again ! Choose another hotel without lowlife

guests!

Room Tip: Do Not Stay Here !!

This hotel is in a beautiful location of Tampa Bay but that is where it ends,
The staff was rude. I was told to check-in at 3:00 PM that my room would be available, it was not. They tried to do a bait and switch as a room w/o a view was available but I had paid extra for a bay view room. Finally after an hour of hassle and saying I wanted a bay room one became open.
There is a restaurant/nightclub attached to the hotel..... loud music could be heard very late at night w/balcony door totally shut along with folks partying till 2:00 AM in the halls.
Pool is OK but chairs were dirty and that enough for all the guests at hotel.
If you want a party hotel w/o any amenities this is the place!

The Best Western Bay Harbor is a terrific location for easy access to all parts of Tampa Bay. It is located withing 5 minutes of TPA (Tampa International Airport) on the main route to Clearwater (SR60); easy access to I275 the route to St Petes and south peninsula of Tampa Bay and also the route into the City of Tampa. There are great restaurants withing a block of the hotel, my favourite Bahama Breeze one block away.
The hotel has also upgraded what was a very poor restaurant on site to Hogans with a good menu, decor and service.
Very good value!

Room Tip: Ask for upper floor facing west for incredible view of sunsets over Tampa Bay and also the Bay activ...

Looking for a hotel in the middle with some nice views. Attached to a local legends restaurant / beach bar. Then is your place. Are you also looking for competent staff and clean rooms? Then keep looking.

Room Tip: Get bay side unless you like looking at a parking lot.

We opted for a bay view room that was amazing! We saw sting rays swimming by in the evening and the sunsets from the room were beautiful! Hotel staff was very friendly and had free computer and Internet in the lobby with a printer that was great to print out last minute items that we forgot to bring. Hotel has a nice gift shop downstairs also. Room was good size and comfortable. Restaurant is not really connected to hotel but probably a good thing. Only issue was there is a bar that the music and people get very loud at across the water directly in front of our bay room.. So if your looking for total silence good luck but we liked the distant jams in the background
