“Can't Beat the Location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2011

We stopped by the Embassy Suites to stay one night to go to the hockey game. The location is great, it is within 2-3 minutes of the St. Pete's Times Forum. The rooms were spacious, clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. Beautiful bay views from the higher floors, and parking right across the street in the parkade. We went to the Hard Rock Casino after the game, it was about 20 minutes by taxi- we thought it was a little closer, as per the description on the internet.
We didn't eat in the hotel but there is a Starbucks off the lobby which was great for morning coffee.
All in all, good hotel, great location for the convention centre and arena. Everyday price is about 268.00$ per night, I think this is overpriced for a 4 star.
We booked 3 days before game on hotels.com and got the room for 168$ per night. This is more reasonable.
I wouldn't pay full rate to stay here, but I would go back for 168.00$ per night.

I stayed here for a 3 day bachelor-party weekend with a bunch of friends. 10 guys sharing two rooms can be a recipe for disaster but this hotel made the experience pretty great. The outdoor pool was a big plus and the free breakfast served was actually really good.

When in Tampa you need to go to Mom's Diner!!!!! Its the best diner outside of NJ, I promise!

Stayed here for one night for a Barry Manilow concert. What a great hotel. Clean, staff friendly, room was quite nice, location to St. Pete Times Forum was ideal. Within easy walking distance to Channelside which has numerous restaurants. The free breakfast was outstanding. I can't comment on the evening Happy Hour, as we did not attend, but there was plenty of people waiting for it to start on our way through the lobby. Seriously, what hotel offers free appetizers and cocktails! The only down side was the mandatory $20 valet parking per night. Would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I just got back from an overnight stay at this hotel. We attended a concert at the St. Pete Times Forum and wanted somewhere close. If you're attending an event at the St. Pete Times Forum or The Tampa Convention Center, this is definitely the place to stay. There is a walkway from the hotel to both locations which makes things very easy. The overall hotel is was very clean and welcoming. Your only parking option is valet parking which is $20.00/day (Works out to about $21.40 with tax). There is no self parking so be prepared. We had a king room on the 7th floor. It was clean, had ample space and multiple televisions. There was also a microwave and small refrigerator. The check in staff was very polite as Embassy tends to cater to business clientele. On the weekend, continental cooked to order breakfast is served until 10:30am which was nice. A very very nice selection (pancakes, sausage, bacon, omelettes....etc). Not your typical cereal breakfast. There is a starbucks in the lobby for all of the coffee fans. We also had the chance to have dinner in the hotel's restaraunt Trolley's. They serve the same stuff that's on the room service menu in your hotel room. Service did take a bit long, and they apparently did not realize it was 40 degrees outside as it was freezing in the restaraunt. I would recommend this hotel if you're staying over 1 or 2 nights. Their rates are somewhat high. If I was planning on a lengthier stay, I would have gone elsewhere for a bit lower price. Overall, not a bad experience at all. Would definitely use this hotel again.

We agree with those reviews which suggest staying at the Embassy Suites downtown if you are going to be boarding a ship the next day. Very close to pier, although getting there with the complimentary shuttle was a little time-consuming. The room was spacious and comfortable- two TVs come in handy when one person wants to sleep, the other wants to watch a ballgame; the carpet showed a little bit it's age. Happy Hour sounds like fun, but be prepared for a looong wait in line to get your free drink.

This was a faily new hotel. Very clean and neat. The valet parking was well worth the money and convienent. You cannot take your car out of public ramps after 7PM. The rooms were in excellent condition and staff was great.

The only minor concerns were that there was little tourist information available in the lobby. The happy hour snacks were not what we have come to expect from other Embassy Suites - however, the free drinks at happy hour were great.

Located within walking distance of Channelside and Ybor City is only a $6 taxi ride each way.

I was there for one night before my Christmas cruise with my wife and my two teenagers. The quality of the suite is excellent: perfect for 4 persons, good beds, 2 ACL televisions, quiet… Nothing to complain on this important part of a hotel stayed!
Front desk: long lines. I had to wait ± 15 minutes before receiving my keys. I also asked basic information to the front desk employee (where is the nearest place to buy wines) and the answer was inappropriate: for him I had to order a cab to go to a store at 3 or 4 miles away. Finally on Google maps I found a large Publix supermarket at 5-7 minutes walk from the hotel (west side of Hillsborough river right after Channelside Drive Bridge if you need it!).
Happy hour: Embassy suites offer 7 nights per week free drinks from 5 to 7PM but at this hotel I had to wait 15-20 minutes in long line to get my drink. After it, you are not able to sit; no tables or seats are available!
Breakfast: it was included and Embassy suites always offer cook to order breakfast: nice again if you are ready to wait another 15 minutes in a long line to get it! And seating problem again!
It seems their breakfast / lounge area is too small to handle all their clients when the hotel is full. If it happens to you, be prepared to wait in line and eat (or drink) whenever you can!
As mentioned the internet is 15$ per day but it’s fast and efficient.
Location: not far from the cruise departure. They don’t offer shuttle transportation to the cruise port. Taxi cost is ± $10.
Hotel restaurant: small but services and foods were good.
Finally if I have to go back in Tampa, I will certainly stayed at another hotel. Unless I’m going there for a convention as the convention center is their direct neighbour.
