My family & I stayed here for one night prior to our cruise. We took a redeye and arrived very early in the morning. I called ahead of time and told them we would be checking in early. We took a shot at check-in and were told that our rooms weren’t quite ready, but breakfast was being served and we could enjoy the complimentary cook-to-order breakfast while we wait. Breakfast area was a bit small for such a big hotel, but we were able to find seats for all 7 of us after a little wait. Breakfast didn’t disappoint. Shortly after taking our time to eat, our rooms were ready (perfect timing).

Rooms were very spacious & clean. After a good nap, a few of us went down to take advantage of the manager’s reception with free cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Again, a small area by the bar, but we got there early so we were able to find a table easily. Not many places to eat around the hotel that are walking distance, so we ended up eating at the restaurant onsite. Nothing special there, but nothing to complain about either. We took a night swim in the heated jetted pool. Not too many people there when we got there, so we had a good time.
Overall, we loved this wonderful hotel and it helped start our vacation off right. If ever in Tampa again, we will definitely go back.

This is a beautiful property and, given that we were attending an event at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, it was is a great location. Attractive and well maintained suites. One of the better showers I've experienced in a while (hot, really good water pressure).

Jetted spa pool was unique, but both the pool and deck got pretty crowded at times. Restaurant and breakfast staff were friendly, but a couple of other encounters were a let-down: had to ask the front desk twice for extra pillows, and housekeeping (which asked whether, not when, we wanted the room cleaned) took the used towels but somehow forgot to leave any new bath towels - glad we noticed before taking a shower - and never saw fit to leave any fresh shampoo after the initial supply.

We stayed 5 nights at the Embassy Suites downtown Tampa for the NCAA hockey games. Our experiences at the hotel were good. It is a beautiful hotel relative to some other Embassy Suites that we've stayed at around the country. We had a large corner suite on the top floor with great views of the channel and the ice hockey arena (about 1 block away).

The Good:
The hotel and our room were kept very clean. Our corner suite was huge and had a good layout/use of space/natural light.
The hotel itself is very nice especially the lobby and atrium.
The free breakfast was good and efficiently served given the large number of people.
There is a Starbuck's in the lobby.
The location is very convenient for running (go to the other side of the convention center, over the bridge and follow the sidewalk along the channel) and going to hockey games.

The Bad:
The furniture in the suites could use updating. The couch was uncomfortable to sit in, the cushion on the chair in our room had fabric that was loose and the carpeting was also loose and folded up in some areas. The beds were okay-but not great. Sheets were stiff.

The walls are thin between the suites. We were awakened a couple of nights by our neighbor's **enjoying** themselves.

The pool is small and is shallow. If you really want a large pool to swim/play in and room to enjoy the sun, you should consider the Marriott across the street. We could see the Marriott's large pool and although it also looked crowded, it was at least three times as large.

As another reviewer stated, the A/C shuts off if there is no movement in the room. It got warm during the night while we were sleeping.

It's surprising that there are not more good quality restaurants in the area. The hotels all have restaurants and there is a bistro on the water close by, but not a lot of other choices for food that isn't "bar food."

We would return because the good far outweighs the bad.

.

Room Tip: The corner suites on the higher floors have great views.

Pretty lobby, rooms are clean and tidy. The conference rooms were well appointed and the rooms are priced for what you get. The hotel is close to everything

I stayed for a bolts game. The hotel is nice, but this hotel was WAY overbooked, and proceeded to charge me the same high price, for a smaller room than I paid for. Manager (I believe her name was Jessica) didn't care. Noise from stairway door slamming kept me up all night.

The A/C kept runs on motion detectors, and raises the temperature by itself while you are sleeping. A quick google of the manual and hack later (*cough* Hold cooler button and on button) this was disabled.

One small note: on peak days, elevators are VERY slow (25 minute wait). While I'm sure Embasst suites will fix this soon with some modernization, the easy way around it is to press the up button, then down button. Respond to the elevator that is going up. Just a tip.

Overall, this is a nice hotel, but the customer service staff needs to be retrained, especially the managers.

This hotel is connected to the convention center by pedestrian bridge making it very convenient for meeting attendees. The rooms were typical Embassy Suites. The breakfast staff, especially the chef, were excellent. A nice touch for the Manager's Happy Hour is if you're Hilton Honors Diamond you can go to the bar in the restaurant to get drinks and skip the line at the bar in the lobby. The menu in the restaurant is small but the food is very good. There's a Starbucks right in the lobby. The fitness room is small but well equipped. If you swim to exercise this isn't the hotel for you. The "pool" is a long and narrow (5 feet) facility and not really made for anything other than standing in the water or sitting in a chair on the pool deck..
