Owner description: Lettuce Lake Park opened in 1982 and quickly became a hub of activities. The 240-acre site offers something for everyone. Wooded picnic areas and a playground are family favorites. A 1.25 mile bicycle path/jogging trail, complete with a fitness course, meander through the park. Lettuce Lake is also a haven to study nature. An interpretive center, featuring exhibits, leads to a 3,500-foot boardwalk and an observation tower where visitors can view an extensive variety of wildlife. Canoes and kayaks are available for rent to visitors to experience a wholenew side of the Park.

This is one of our favorite places to share with out of town guests, particularly if they live in the northern states. Going to the park is a taste of what Florida was in the past, before the condos and the theme parks. Nature is the theme here; there are boardwalks for strolling and many benches for sitting and watching the river. The observation tower gives a lovely view. This is a great spot for families. Picnics and birthday parties are common and there is a play area for kids. Those areas are away from the boardwalks so the serenity is not disturbed.

This park was two lights away from our hotel. We drove by it and decided to check it out. It was a $2 car fee. Great family park with a variety of plant life and animals. It has a boardwalk built around the lake. This is all the amenities: Barbeque Grills, Bird Watching, Boardwalk, Canoe / Kayak - Launch, Canoe / Kayak - Rentals, Fishing, Fishing Dock / Pier, Hiking, Picnic Area (ADA Accessible), Picnic Shelters, Picnic Shelters - Reservable, Picnic Tables, Playground, Restrooms, Restrooms (ADA Accessible), River Access, Summer Camp, Trail - Fitness, Trails - Walking, and Visitor Center. It is well worth checking it out.

Beautiful park. If you look closely, you will likely see several alligators and birds, as well as other wildlife. Very serene.

Beautiful, swampy Florida -- a gorgeous natural setting complete with alligators, wading birds, and a spectacular boardwalk.
