after a couple recent so so experiences Ted this capital grill. I decided to give it another chance. I stopped in for lunch and they had advertised a Wagyu burger. I'm rather fond of what do beef and eat it on a regular basis. The first burger I got was overcooked it was completely dried out, round why do I even went over cooked is usually still very flavorful.since it was an 18 dollar burger I send it back for a proper cook. The second burger return will undercooked we should have met it was full of flavor. Unfortunately, I have to question whether it was Wagyu beef at all. All in all it would have been a great 995 burger.as usual the service was impeccableand they handle the miss cook well. Does the kitchen made the fatal mistake of rushing the second burger out under cooked.after many wonderful experiences at the capital grill in Miami, I have to say that the Tampa restaurant does not meet the graDe

We were originally planning on just eating at a Bay Street restaurant, but decided to go to Capital Grille since we had never eaten there before. I thought it was similar to Daily Grill, but was pleasantly surprised that I had completely miscalculated!

Like most chop houses the meat selection is very good. We showed up at 5:30 PM which is earlier than we normally eat and the restaurant was able to seat us right away. The waiter was amazing and recommended drinks, appetizers, salads, mains, wine and deserts. We planned on only main courses for dinner but ended up doing a four course meal.

Drinks were original and very tasty, not too strong that they tasted like only alcohol. We did an appetizer and salad and then both had different steaks for dinner. The chef provided us with a complimentary sampler and the tartar sauce was so good it was more like a dip for chips so our waiter brought us out homemade potato chips and more sauce as another snack. Like most high end restaurants the sides are a la cart, but Capital Grille offer most of them in half orders so you can do more than you expect! I recommend the Kona crust on your steak. While it is ground coffee it does not ruin the flavor of the steak.

As for deserts we had the cheesecake. It is amazing with fresh fruit and a crème brulee crust. We also split the Hazelnut cake which is gigantic and very rich (This could easily be split between two or three people). It was a chocolate lovers dream.

We left the restaurant full and happy. I would recommend making reservations, even on a weekday, if you plan on dining at a regular hour as the restaurant had a line waiting as we left. It is part of the International Plaza complex which is nice if you want to do some shopping before or after the meal, or just have somewhere to walk after eating.

Overall it was a pleasant surprise and somewhere we will be going again!

The Capital Grille at the International Plaza and Bat Street in Tampa is not what you would expect of a restaurant in a shopping mall! It carefully replicates the famous Capital Grill in our nations Capitol where high level lunches and dinners result in legislation that affects us all. The bar is beautiful and expansive while maintaing the ambiance of the much smaller one to the north. The dining rooms are set up the same as in DC, small intimate places wher discussions can be had without too much ambient noise. The wine list and bar are well populated with high end bottles and the menu is certainly adequate. We had lobster and encrusted fillet mignon as our main courses with asparagus on the side. The food was excellent, although I did not enjoy the seasoning on the asparagus. The service was above Florida standards and compared well to northern cities where staff is in it as a profession, not a way to pay for an education. We paid $150 for our meal which seemed a bit high, but the overall experience was worthwhile.

This is the best restaurant that I have ever eaten in. Very pricey about 350 for three people but worth every dime. You will need a reservation and business casual dress. The lobster mac and cheese is excellent and the wine list is beyond any that I have seen. THe service is low key and very attentive to detail. I cannot wait to go again.

What a surprise when we arrived at our reserved booth to see large red rose petals placed perfectly across the middle of the table, a beautiful large long stem red rose on top and mini red hearts all around. Too perfect. The hostess offered her congratulations and before we moved things around, offered to take our picture.
Our waitress Lisa was attentive but not overly. didn't rush us and allowed plenty of time to enjoy our glass of wine. We both ordered the Filet Mignon which was perfectly cooked to our desire and it was fabulous. The parmesan truffle fries- to die for, nice and crisp and full of flavor. Didn't order a starter, thought we would save room for desert. Every now and then the manager Bob would stop by to see if everything was to our liking. For desert we choose the awesome coconut crème pie. Out of this world and guess what, it was compliments of the house. Too wonderful!!
It was on of the nicest restaurant experiences that we have had in a very long time. Everything was PERFECT.
Can't wait to go back.
Thank you Capital Grille Team
