“Tampa's Hot Spot”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

Over the last several years., South Tampa has really become THE Tampa hot spot. It is a prestigeous part of Tampa, with the scenic Bayshore Blvd. as the backdrop. Downtown Tampa is like anyother "downtown"...most places close by dark & there's a lot of one-way streets, LOL. JACKSON'S is a fun place to go, on Harbour Island. But HOWARD AVENUE is really where everything is at....all kinds of different restaurants, bars & pubs. The crowd/ages varies, depending on where you go, & what (themed) day you're planning on being out. For instance, 1 place may do karaoke on Wednesdays, with free admission to get in. Another place may have 1/2 off appetizers from 5-9pm. Parking is tricky...where ever you can find one do so, then walk up & down Howard Avenue to see all you can. Admission prices vary, depending on where/day/time. Most of the "action" happens Thursday-Saturday. Be careful if you drink...cops are EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!! There's an option called "ZINGO"...they put their bike in your trunk, drive you home, & bike back to Howard Ave, for reasonable price. They DO NOT PLAY AROUND about drinking/driving here.

First time to Tampa and am loving it!! Downtown Tampa is clean and well lit. Very tourist friendly and lots to do. The views are fantastic. Even upscale restaurants accommodating of tourists in traveling clothes to keep cool.

I've lived here my whole life. It didn't used to be so ridiculously snobby. It used to much more pleasant as far as the people are concerned. There are a lot of $30,000 Millionaires (people trying too hard to be something they are not..like living in studio apartments/dumps and driving a BMW or Mercedes they can't afford). The upside is that everything you could possibly want is located in a small radius. It's very convenient. I live near 3 Publix Supermarkets, 3 Starbucks, 15 gas stations, 10 gyms, blocks from Bayshore Blvd. where I run at night, etc. The list goes on and on. You don't have to drive far to get whatever it is that you want. The restaurants are outstanding and there are lots of fun bars in Hyde Park and some scattered throughout South Tampa. Home taxes are expensive, most roads flood so life is much better if you have an SUV or truck and some people act very snooty, but you can't beat the sunsets on Bayshore or the overall beautiful & tropical surroundings. It's a great place to live in sunny Florida.

“Best part of Tampa”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Best Homes, best area by far! Good Restaurants down Howard Avenue all the way thru Palma Cia The Bar scene is super busy on weekends so for that younger crowd its the happening place to be! Easy to hail a Taxi but the traffic and parking situation are difficult on the weekends!
