I have a hard time even sharing this with anyone; the mere memory of what we experienced still turns my stomach. I ate here for dinner with my husband, daughter and her boyfriend in the Henderson Blvd (Tampa) location. We were promptly seated in a high top by the bar; our server was prompt and gracious. After we ordered our drinks, our server came to take our dinner order and I was immediately hit with the foul stench of human feces. Apparently a patron had an obviously bad reaction to their food and didn't make it to the restroom. There was a trail of the person's "blow out" all down the isle toward the restrooms that apparently our server had walked through. What is worse than the stench was how the staff and management handled the problem. Our server took napkins from the hostess area and bar and wiped off his shoes. He and the rest of the staff proceeded to do the same and to wipe down the floors. More staff from the kitchen (who were in the middle of preparing food) came out and did the same. This violates just about every health and safety / GMP (good manufacturing practices) and HACCP (another food safety program) procedures I could imagine. We immediately paid our drink tab and bolted.
I never ate there again. Several things concern me here: (1) the food the patron had a "blow out" from was probably bad or poorly prepared (2) I can't imagine how many people got sick who actually ate their food after the incident - cross contamination galore (3) if this is how the staff handles such an incident in the dining room, imagine how they handle something in the kitchen (in other words, be scared of what you can't see).
Tampa is CHOCK FULL of amazing restaurants. Go to Datz on MacDill instead. Amazingly good!
