I had a great meal but the service was a little uneven. It's a training issue and if needs to be tweaked. But their risotto is always yummy and I can't say enough about the desserts.

Enjoyed two visits to Cena. This is Italian food like what you get get in a gourmet restaurant in Italy...not the silly red sauce, garlicky, cheese covered stuff from Philly and NYC (like it, but you won't find it in Italy).

Small, chef run, Cena has a great menu selections with about 10 apps/salads, 6 pastas/risottos and 6-8 main courses. Highlights that we enjoyed include: arancini (fried risotto balls); beef carpaccio; tuna crudo; panzanilla salad; oxtail gnocchi (best in town); and grilled branzino. Desserts are also fantastic and innovative...just like what we were served in Piemonte, Lombardy and Veneto during 5 weeks spent there during last two summers.

Wine list is nice with some very reasonable and authentic small maker bottle, refreshing versus the commercial plonk most Italian restaurants have in the area.

Our new go-to place and we have yet to sample most of the menu. Can't wait. This place is a real restaurant. Unpretentious...just outstanding personnel, service and a proper understanding of food quality, portions, etc. For example, their Tiramisu takes an ordinarily prosaic dessert and transports it into an elegant visual and tasty delight. This is among a rarefied few in Tampa!

Had the pleasure of dining at Cena in Tampa last evening. From the day that I called to request a reservation, the professionalism of this restaurant was noted. The restaurant is youthful and urban in design. Our server was very attentive throughout our meal. Michael the chef/owner stopped at our table and was very friendly. We started with a Mussels Diablo appetizer which was superb. We each had a pasta-the short rib and the carbonara and they were both delicious. Ambience was great-not a high noise level and even music they played was perfect. Definitely will return and definitely recommend.

Our waitress was amazing. It was very busy last night and the acoustics made conversing challenging. Arancini was good, not great, and bruschetta was average. Their version of a caprese salad was amazing. Since we had so looked forward to trying the risotto, we were highly disappointed in the lack if creaminess (mushroom risotto). The pork saltimbocco was great with the pancetta brown butter and brussel sprouts with the butternut squash 'ravioli'. It would make an amazing pasta dish minus the rounds of pork. My husband had the chicken Marsala which lacked flavor and was very bland. Not sure we will go back again although the desserts did look amazing and we unfortunately did not have time to order those.
