“Not your run-of-the-mill Mexican food, a bit adventurous”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

This is Mexican with a bit of flair. Yes, you can order a basic burrito or quesadilla, but why would you when there are lobster tacos on the menu? Catrina's has a lot of personality and very good food to boot. I've tried three different meals, and they've all be great. The shrimp tacos were probably my favorite, but I wouldn't be afraid to try anything on the menu (except maybe the cow's tongue tacos). Their margaritas, served in little clay cups called "jarritos" are really good, and they have some interesting versions of the margarita without being ridiculously trendy or overpriced. The pitcher of margaritas is an amazing value if you have at least two people who would likely order two margaritas each. The pitcher costs less than 4 individual drinks, and filled about 6 or 7 jarritos.

The decor is a bit on the macabre side, since the Catrina is a skeleton-like figure. But the colors are bright and there is something to look at in every direction... even in the ladies room.

I'm not normally a fan of mariachi bands, but the one at Catrina's on Friday is really good, with lots of musicians and multiple horns.

If you're looking for some unique Mexican food in an atmosphere that is funkier than a chain restaurant, give Catrina's a try!

“Fantastic Chef”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

I have now been to Catrina's twice and the food is consistently excellent. Most recently I had the whole fish plate and it was a gourmet's delight. When it comes to their guacamole the freshness is outstanding. If you are able to go on a Friday night, the Mariachi Band is a most accomplished group of musicians with beautiful voices to accompany their varied instruments. Only the service is a little weak as the servers seem to be new to their jobs, however, it did not interfere with the quality of the food and music.

“Surprisingly good Mexican food!”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

Very flavorful food!! The Mexican soup was very complex in flavor & filling. The salsa is equally tasty and with a nice amount of heat to it - not too spicy you rush to drink something but enough to know there is heat. The Margarita was very good - too good! Needed to control myself and only have one for lunch. Looking forward to going on a Tuesday night. $2 tacos, $25 large plate of fajitas & it includes a pitcher of Margarita! That's a deal!!

“Great the first time”
Reviewed December 24, 2012 via mobile

It was amazing the first time and we were excited to go back soon. The second time it was just good and not great. I guess we need to go again because I don't know if it deserves 3 stars or 5 from the first time, so I gave it four.
