“If ever in Tampa; stay here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2009

I really enjoyed my stay here. The Mediterranean-style decor was beautiful. There were splashes of color tastefully displayed everywhere. The location was a shopaholics dream! Adjacent to the International Plaza with shopping and dining options for everyone. Only stayed one night to attend a concert. After the show we were still able to enjoy some of the nightlife at one of many spots in the Plaza ( Blue Martini & Bar Louie, to mention a few). The room itself was clean and nicely appointed. The bathroom was very spacious. The bed was comfortable. Room service was quick and very good. The hotel restaurant, Pelagia Trattoria, is very nice. I only had drinks here while waiting for a taxi, but the menu looked wonderful and many positive reviews were proudly displayed. The hotel is minutes from the airport. Parking is free. This hotel does not disappoint.

I don't travel for a living,so maybe thats why I just love to stay in hotels! We only stayed one night to make it easier to get up for an early flight. But I wish I could have stayed two or three. Our room was nicely decorated. The beds were sooo comfy. The bathroom clean and nice. Big closet. Big screen t.v. Close to International Plaza for shopping and tons of restaurants. Beautiful courtyard with water fountain. You just never feel like you are steps away from the airport(free shuttle),the highway, and a very large mall! Anyway, like I said I love to stay in hotels and I really enjoyed this one. We will stay here again. OH the staff was great! Helpful and right there for whatever you needed.

right off the airport but no noise from planes, and shuttle service. rooms clean but not great, staff very friendly and accomodating. wireless kind of dodgy but not problems with wired connection. restaurant in hotel is excellent and lunch is reasonably priced given the quality. attached to mall to many shopping / dining options.

This hotel met all my expectations of the Renaissance brand. I have found consistently low prices for a Renaissance Hotel right on the Marriott website. Rooms are modern and immaculate, decor is nice. The courtyard is beautiful. Friendly staff. It is connected to the Int'l Plaza mall and can't be beat for walking to shopping and restaurants. I have nothing bad at all to say about this hotel.

I've been Platinum with Marriott since 2004 which means I am a glorified Migrant Worker, spending at least 75 nights every year at their hotels. In my experience, this is probably the best airport hotel in America that I have visited. Is it close to the airport? (see attached photo) - very.

Location:
Finding it is a little tricky (that' why we have GPS, now) but if you see the Neiman-Marcus at the mall, you're there. Self parking is tight but Marriott seems to have the best staffed Valet service of all of the major hotel chains, so that's not a problem. You will be greeted cheerfully by a valet at the front door. And by a professional, friendly and very attractive front desk staff (see attached photo).

The main lobby is quite elegant, always busy but hums with a pleasant background white noise that is actually soothing. Pretty open garden area with fountains.

Bar area is small but has a good wine list to help take the edge off a hard day of travel (did you know that the word "travel" comes from the French word "travail?" and I can certainly understand why). The bartender is a real professional.

Rooms are Marriott quality. Everything works, everything's clean, everything's comfortable. And if you're lucky enough to be Gold or Platinum (if you can refer to living out of a suitcase as "lucky") you can get access to the concierge lounge to escape the crowds and enjoy a nice little breakfast spread (see attached photo).

Other
Open WIFI in the lobby, and (2 ports) are available in the Concierge lounge. Otherwise you'll pay ($10? $15) for a day of internet service which is a pet peeve of mine at any hotel. (note to Marriott: we all want to maximize our profits, but please stop charging for internet access. Pretty Please?)

There's an Ocean Prime just opend around the corner! Eat there! (see my previous reviews on restaurants). Also a Roy's nearby (GREAT food GOOD service and kicking eye candy and if you drive around this part of town you'll quickly see why that is).

Great Place overall. Joe Bob says Check it Out.

Staying at this hotel for 30 - 60 days. Staying 3-4 days per week. On my 3rd stay now.

The hotel is nice and convenient to where I am working.

1) Hotel: Clean and parking is easy. Next to a mall and very close to good restaurants. I have had to change rooms once since the neighbor was very loud. Rooms are standard, nothing great...but appear new and clean. There is no wireless internet..only wired...which is really inconvenient.

2) Pool: Have not used it...thought I might one afternoon. Very cramped and surrounded by 4 large walls....not a great pool to hang out at. Ok if you want to swim some laps.

3) Restaurants/Bars: One "nice" restaurant, called Pallgia (sp?)...ate here once and will not eat here again. Very expensive and they try too hard to make the food "different". Everything has a two sentence description on what it is and it tastes that way. The food is too complicated for me. There is another small bar area where you can order food, but there is only 3 or 4 tables. I got mine to go and took it upstairs. You are better off going around the corner to the International Plaza or the Mall to eat. Came back late one night (12:00) and everything was closed...which I thought was pretty early to shut a bar/food down.

I thought about switching hotels for the remainder of my stays for the next month or so...have not decided yet. Headed back there this week again....will update post if something changes better/worse.

Pricelined for $113 four days before our trip. Very convenient location to the airport and adjacent to an upscale mall. Loved the courtyard at night that accessed the bar. Rooms were bright and clean. Service was excellent. Will definitely stay here again.
