“Nice stay in Tampa”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

Positives:
1. Clean
2. Great location for the airport, shopping, dining
3. Comfortable bed
4. Nice gym
5. Professional Staff

Overall this was up to Marriott's standards. I would stay here again and meets my criteria for a four star hotel. While it isn't a Ritz or Four Seasons, it gets the job done.

One item they may consider is to add a Spa to the hotel, we would have taken advantage of this if offered.

The Renaissance International Hotel and Plaza is a beautiful Italian village inspired large property in the northwest section of Tampa.

Beautifully decorated and adorned, the property is clean and spacious with comfortable over sized furniture in the spacious lobby.

Check in was efficient, fast and user friendly accompanied by smiles and a very warm, friendly & cheerful staff.

My accessible room, on the second floor very close to the elevator, room 341 was exceptionally large for a standard room; larger than most suites in comparable properties in large cities. The room was well furnished with a king bed, armoire, reading lounge chair, refrigerator, flat screen and the standard items. There are 2 bottles of the house brand water, coffee maker, coffee and tea complimentary or you may opt for the premium bottles of Evian Water for a hefty charge. In-room Internet is very expensive per day, as well as the in-room movies and tv Internet services.

The bathroom and quality of the towels and toiletries are very upscale. The turn down and wake up calls are precise and on time.

The Restaurant was very chic and modern Italian with quick, courteous and efficient service. The breakfast buffet was tasty with a good selection of items. The pricing in the restaurant was moderate but equal to similar properties. In the lobby of the hotel there is a courtesy beverage station with fresh chilled and fruited water and features coffee in the mornings. There is a small novelty shop in the lobby that I did not use.

The courtesy van -shuttle service was convenient and available from 5:00 AM until 11:00 PM. It is very convenient for getting to the Walmart and Target if you need to pick up a few things or to access the local bus system to get out and explore the city if not driving.

The conference rooms were well maintained and centrally located off the lobby and restrooms. The conference and banquet staff were difficult to find and not attentive as necessary for my personal taste but we're friendly and courteous. There were some consistency and service issues with our continental breakfast each morning but minimal.

The location is the only potential challenge of this property. It is located very close to the airport in a beautiful, clean and upscale area. This is the challenge if you aren't driving. It is set away from downtown and the limited major sights. I had no real problem getting around as I used the courtesy van to connect to public transportation and called the hotel to be picked up once I returned to the bus stop, but must be well before 11:00 PM as I learned the van drivers do go home early up scheduled.
Overall it was a very comfortable, courteous and professional 6 day stay for a business training.. I would recommend this property for singles & couples on business. My impression is it would be very pricey as a true family destination with kids, location and proximity to major attractions.

The property is connected to the International Plaza, a beautiful mall with all upscale stores, shopping and restaurants and eateries in an Italian themed setting. The Mall was busy with upscale shoppers during the day into the early evening. The restaurants close early so if you plan on using them for evening meals, plan to do so early in the evening before 9:00 pm.

Stayed here for 2 nights for a business trip. This hotel is about a 5-10 minute drive to the airport, and located right at the edge of a large shopping area that also has over 6 restaurants to choose from , all just adjacent to the hotel. You can walk over and shop, or eat, or enjoy a drink at a nice outdoor table or bar
area. There is free self parking. The rooms could use a refresh, but the beds are very comfortable. The aveda products include shower gel - showers are curtained and a little on the dated side. There is a gym adjacent to the pool area, cardio equipment with lots of Free weights and a few machines. The concierge lounge was very busy both days. The first day there was hardly any food left which I thought was odd. That did not happen the second day so maybe just a glitch. There is a nice courtyard in the center of the property. The rooms were clean, as was the gym and common areas. A nice stay and nice to be near some good restaurants even though staying close to the airport.

I stayed at the Renaissance because for some reason, all of the hotels in Tampa where packed. I thought I had a reservation at the downtown Marriott but was directed to the Renaissance. I thought the room was extremely comfortable especially the beds. It looks like this is a brand-new hotel and is certainly well laid out and well decorated. I also thought that the workout room was sufficient. It could be a bit larger given that many people are working out while on trips. Nevertheless, I was able to get my workout in and I very much appreciated the water and towels that were provided. The location is near most everything in Tampa although it is a bit of a drive to the downtown area. Being close to the expressway, one can jump on the expressway and be downtown in approximately 5 to 10 minutes. I liked it enough that I would return.

This place wows you from the second you walk into the lobby. It is very elegant/classy and has a beautiful pool area. The rooms are comfortable and clean which is all you can ever ask for. They also have great shampoo products, which shows how they show great care for their customers. :)

We stayed here at the end of our stay on Florida. The hotel exceeded my expectations and was very classy in a terrific location in proximity to airport, shopping and dining. The Cheesecake Factory has a ton of food/entree selections and large portions. The pool area and exercise area at hotel are also terrific and were not crowded. The rooms were tastefully decorated and Aveda products for toiletries were a nice touch in the room. Great beds and super comfortable too. Free airport shuttle service as well.

This hotel is modern, clean and very convenient to the airport. It is part of a large shopping center so there is plenty of shopping you can do if you have down time. The rooms are comfortable and the staff is very helpful. I don't hesitate to stay there when I'm in Tampa.
