“Great park for a morning stroll”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Nice easy trails for leisurely walks. Occasionally you will see porpoises swimming in the bayou. The museum in the park is worth a look to learn about the habitat in the park. Hawks abound as well as night herons and other wading birds. I recommend the Eagle Trail if you would like to see an abundance of wading birds and scurrying hermit crabs.

Bring bug repellent, a hat, sunglasses and don't forget your binoculars to view the birds and other wildlife.

I enjoy bringing my dog.

A $2 admission fee is charged for all Hillsborough County Parks.

Renovations are still being made to some of the boardwalks.

“undergoing some renovations”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Lovely place, bring bug spray or repellant. Great Nature Park and wonderful new play area for young children. The boardwalk was closed however it should hopefully be fixed. They have fish and snakes in aquariums and is worth the visit

“Nice, Quiet Park”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

Maybe it was because I was here on a weekday that it was pretty quiet? There was only one mom and young son in the visitor center--and they were having a blast looking at all the critter inside! Lots of info on many different levels and subjects. Nifty hiking trails. I took the Eagle Trail out to the water's edge. Paddling these waters would also be fun.

“Wow, nice park!”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

It cost $2 to park for single car. Plenty pf pavillions to picnic at. Walking trails throughout the park. Kayak and canoe rentals $25 for 4 hours, but watch your time. Nice playground area and a volleyball court. The fishing pier and trail by it was closed for looked like fixing the boardwalk. They have a nature center wish fish, snakes and other critters. This is a very well cared for park and really provides all you need for a nice afternoon out..CHEAP.

“Always quiet”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

Decided to go to this place to try and get some of the dog's energy out and it was perfect. There is a nice trail loop near the Nature Center not the Otter trail (I believe it's being renovated right now). I then found another trail down the road across from the playground area called the Eagle trail and that's a great stroll down to a little boardwalk/pier. You can walk down right into the water which is only about 6-12 inches deep for a very very long time.

There are also nice facilities lots of pavilions and grills, not sure if they need to be rented or first come first serve and canoeing for $25 or bring your own kayak/canoe.

Great quiet place
