This museum is really small, but the small number of photos have strong messages. I suggest you read about every artist by borrowing the laminated pamphlet from front desk because there's more information on the photographers skills. My favourite was a temporary exhibit one floor up, the photos weren't even photoshopped as the description said. The vase with flower! Worth the $10 entrance fee.

The museum itself is on the second floor of the building and only covers part of two floors. The collection is very minimalist, but what they do have on display is pretty interesting. I do not regret going but I do not know if I would pay $10 again for how large the place is.

Given the name we thought there might be info on the history of photography or perhaps info on various techniques, but there was none of that. There was a closed gallery and two tiny galleries with photos that has absolutely no explanation of what the subject matter of the photo was or when it was taken. It was $10 to park and $10 to get in. Save your money. Staff at the desk were friendly, but had no answers about the photos when asked as we were leaving.

While walking on Tampa's Riverwalk, we decided to walk through the Downtown area and by accident ran into the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts. The museum is located on the 3rd floor of a high rise building, it has an entrance fee of about $10. I have to admit am not a photo arts expert but I actually enjoyed what I saw. The first exhibit we saw was a photo concept competition, photographers send pictures that were judged by theme and interprepation. The next exhibit were photos from old National Geographic Magazines, that covered many topics, such as, culture, poverty, home, family, etc. The last exhibit showcased local photographers, that took pictures of Tampa landmarks old and current. Overall, The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts is a gem, that should be visited more, now I understand that not everyone is into the arts or photocentric, but if you like the arts then give this museum a chance it's worth the stop.

The museum is in the waterfront area of downtown Tampa. Great spot. The museum itself is in the "Cube" building! Great architecture. There were three exhibits. The first was architectural photos. This was wonderful. These photos were competing in a competition. The second exhibit was by a National Geographic photographer. Incredible. The third was 1o years of Photographer laureates for Tampa. Another stunning group. This place is great. You must see it!
